The Shenandoah Valley had all the visible makings of the finest Holiday greeting card with its lush rolling hills, majestic mountains and the mighty Shenandoah River. Abby and Andi were raised in the valley among a beautiful community of faith. They were raised to love Jesus and were deeply rooted in GodaEUR(tm)s Word; but these identical twin sisters lived completely opposite lives. Abby, a home-health nurse, was well loved and respected by her family and friends. Andi, AbbyaEUR(tm)s mirror twin sister lived a rebellious, sordid life. Between empty, loveless affairs and alcohol addiction she was on a fast track to destruction. The day Isaac Graham, a widower and father of a four-year-old daughter, moved to the Shenandoah Valley was more than anyone could have expected. Dr. Graham was an earnest believer who came to town to serve his indigent patients in the community clinic. But when Abby arrived for her appointment to abort her unborn child, he never thought he could be so disconcerted with both shock and betrayal. Living Waters Church was a bulwark of the community and few things came in or went out of the Valley without passing through the prayer gates of this body of believers. But for several prominent families, what was about to transpire would forever change the entire landscape of their lives. Come to the river to find what tests, trials, joy and triumphs they experienced.

When gynecologists Catherine and Reg Hamlin left their home in Australia for Ethiopia, they never dreamed that they would establish what has been heralded as one of the most incredible medical programs in the modern world. But more than forty years later, the couple has operated on more than 20,000 women, most of whom suffered from obstetric fistula, a debilitating childbirth injury. In this awe-inspiring book, Dr. Catherine Hamlin recalls her life and career in Ethiopia. Her unyielding courage and solid faith will astound Christians worldwide as she talks about the people she has grown to love and the hospital that so many Ethiopian women have come to depend on. She truly is the Mother Teresa of our age. The second edition includes an afterword that brings Catherine's story up to date and new color photographs.

The River Dragon Has Come written by Dai Qing and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-07-01 with History categories.

In the ongoing courageous struggle of a relatively small group of Chinese to prevent the completion of the Three Gorges Dam in China, Dai Qing is the outspoken leader whose eloquent voice is always heard despite threats and intimidation by the Chinese authorities to silence it. Dai Qing, an investigative journalist and author with a wide audience in China and abroad, compiled this book of essays and field reports assessing the impact of the Three Gorges megadam now under construction at Sandouping in China's Hubei province at great risk to her own freedom. This book is an effort to prevent history from repeating itself ten-fold (a reference to the great floods in 1975 during which over 60 dams collapsed and at least 100,000 people lost their lives) if the 39 billion cubic metres of water in the Three Gorges reservoir ever escapes by natural or man-made catastrophes. These comprehensive essays reveal the deep rooted problems presented by the Three Gorges project that the government is attempting to disguise or suppress. The main concerns are population resettlement and human rights, the irreversible environmental and economic impact, the loss of cultural antiquities and historical sites, military considerations, and hidden dam disasters from the past. Opponents of the dam are attempting to kill the project or at least reduce the size of the megadam now planned to be the biggest, most expensive and, incidentally, the most hazardous of all hydro-electric projects on this planet.

This book has come out of life experiences-lived in the Refiner's Fire-during times of pain and sorrow, gain and loss, joy and heartache, disobedience and discipline, celebration and victory, challenging relationships and ministry, transitions and new beginnings. In it all, God, through His Spirit, spoke precious words of comfort, peace, joy, direction, conviction, correction, and hope. May these words be an encouragement to you. This book isn't to be read cover to cover in one sitting. Let God direct you to what He wants you to read at a certain time. He longs to speak specifically, directly and personally to you."The afflicted and needy are seeking water, but there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst; I, the Lord, will answer them Myself..." God goes on to say that He will answer your deepest needs by opening rivers on the bare heights, and opening springs in the midst of the valleys. He will make your wilderness a pool of water and your dry ground fountains of water (Isa. 41:17-20). His invitation is to "Come to the River!"My prayer for you is that you would experience an increasingly more intimate relationship with the God of the Bible; that no matter how old you are, what season of life you are in, or what you have or haven't done, you will know that your Heavenly Father's arms are open wide for you, His child, whom He knows by name and deeply loves.Joy D. McCullough (Ph.D., Ohio State University) is an early-retired teacher who taught for 32 years. God has repositioned her into a writing and speaking ministry. Her first book Kingdom Living in Your Classroom was published by the Association of Christian Schools International. Her heart's desire is to encourage the Body of Christ.
