There exists no doubt, considering the proactive role of mass communication in gathering, disseminating and gauging the public opinion and motivating them towards a desired change. This role by mass media is more important, particularly, in India where citizens are being seen as information starving and being deprived of much required knowledge to better their lives. Studies in the past have pointed out that, media have and continues to play an important and decisive role in nations that are categorized as third world countries, in bringing about development and leading to a predetermined social change. Furthermore, media can play an independent and objective role in a democratic political setup in India, by bringing forth various opinions and ideas, thereby nurturing an informed citizen about the polices, developments and issues concerning them.

Encyclopedia Of Hinduism written by Denise Cush and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-21 with Reference categories.

The Encyclopedia of Hinduism contains over 900 entries reflecting recent advances in scholarship which have raised new theoretical and methodological issues as well as identifying new areas of study which have not been addressed previously. The debate over the term 'Hinduism' in the light of post-Orientalist critiques is just one example of how once standard academic frameworks have been called into question. Entries range from 150-word definitions of terms and concepts to 5,000-word in-depth investigations of major topics. The Encyclopedia covers all aspects of Hinduism but departs from other works in including more ethnographic and contemporary material in contrast to an exclusively textual and historical approach. It includes a broad range of subject matter such as: historical developments (among them nineteenth and twentieth century reform and revival); geographical distribution (especially the diaspora); major and minor movements; philosophies and theologies; scriptures; deities; temples and sacred sites; pilgrimages; festivals; rites of passage; worship; religious arts (sculpture, architecture, music, dance, etc.); religious sciences (e.g. astrology); biographies of leading figures; local and regional traditions; caste and untouchability; feminism and women's religion; nationalism and the Hindu radical right; and new religious movements. The history of study and the role of important scholars past and present are also discussed. Accessibility to all levels of reader has been a priority and no previous knowledge is assumed. However, the in-depth larger entries and the design of the work in line with the latest scholarly advances means that the volume will be of considerable interest to specialists. The whole is cross-referenced and bibliographies attach to the larger entries. There is a full index.

What is Brahman? What is its relationship to Atman? What is an individual’s place in the cosmos? Is a personalised god and ritualistic worship the only path to attain moksha? Does caste matter when a human is engaging with the metaphysical world? The answers to these perennial questions sparkle with clarity in this seminal account of a man and a saint, who revived Hinduism and gave to Upanishadic insights a rigorously structured and sublimely appealing philosophy. -- Amazon.

The book on which this commentary is written is titled 'History and Philosophy of Liṅgᾱyat Religion' by M. R. Sakhare, M. A., T. D. (Cantab), published by the Karnatak University, Dharwad, India, in the year 1978. During the process of continued study and understanding of the available sacred literature, and writing ten books in the past, it was evident to me that I had referred to a book by Professor M. R. Sakhare called 'History and Philosophy of Liṅgᾱyat Religion' published by Karnatak University, Dharwad, India. It appears that this scholarly work, in English, of Professor Sakhare was frequently referred to in the past by the students of Philosophy and Religion in order to seek further insight into the Religious Philosophy of Liṅgᾱyatas who are also known as Vīraśaivas. Although the book had been regarded as one of the authentic works in English on this subject, some questions have been raised as to its usefulness as a reference book in the present day circumstances. With this in mind, the book was reviewed, and then, as it seemed appropriate to report the findings, this commentary has been submitted to the interested and concerned readers. This is a critical review.

The Battle Of Kohima written by Arthur Swinson and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1967 with Kohima (India : City) categories.

"According to Lord Louis Mountbatten, Kohima "will probably go down as one of the greatest battles in history." The battle took place in that part of the world where India and Burma meet, an area of "hellish jungle-mountains." In the spring of 1944 the Japanese army began what Toyko radio called "The March on Delhi"; by summer, the remnants of thsoe "invincible" Japanese troops were struggling back across Burma: at the twin battles of Kohima and Imphal they had met British and Indian forces head-on. They were beaten in a crucial action which has ranked with Alamein, Midway, and Stalingrad as one of the great turning points of World War II. Arthur Swinson has drawn on many unpublished documents and diaries from Japanese as well as Allied sources."--Jacket.
