Computational Hydraulics introduces the concept of modeling and the contribution of numerical methods and numerical analysis to modeling. It provides a concise and comprehensive description of the basic hydraulic principles, and the problems addressed by these principles in the aquatic environment. Flow equations, numerical and analytical solutions are included. The necessary steps for building and applying numerical methods in hydraulics comprise the core of the book and this is followed by a report of different example applications of computational hydraulics: river training effects on flood propagation, water quality modelling of lakes and coastal applications. The theory and exercises included in the book promote learning of concepts within academic environments. Sample codes are made available online for purchasers of the book. Computational Hydraulics is intended for under-graduate and graduate students, researchers, members of governmental and non-governmental agencies and professionals involved in management of the water related problems. Computational Hydraulics written by C. A. Brebbia and has been published by Butterworth-Heinemann this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Computational Hydraulics provides an introduction to computational techniques for hydraulic and fluid flow engineers. It combines classical hydraulics with new methods such as finite elements and boundary elements, which are both presented in a matrix formulation. The most interesting feature of the book is the integrated treatment given to the theoretical and computing aspects of numerical methods. The format presents a series of complete computer programs, for linear and non-linear pipe network analysis, depth flow computations, and finite and boundary elements for Laplace equations. The programs, which are written in standard FORTRAN, are self-contained and easy to implement in any computer. The book is the product of several years' experience in teaching and research at undergraduate and post-graduate level and can be used to offer a self-contained course on Computational Hydraulics for final year or M.Sc. Engineering students. The authors hope that this book will make practicing hydraulic engineers more aware of modern computer techniques and be useful in teaching them to the next generation.

Numerical Modeling In Open Channel Hydraulics written by Romuald Szymkiewicz and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-03-10 with Science categories.
Open channel hydraulics has always been a very interesting domain of scienti c and engineering activity because of the great importance of water for human l- ing. The free surface ow, which takes place in the oceans, seas and rivers, can be still regarded as one of the most complex physical processes in the environment. The rst source of dif culties is the proper recognition of physical ow processes and their mathematical description. The second one is related to the solution of the derived equations. The equations arising in hydrodynamics are rather comp- cated and, except some much idealized cases, their solution requires application of the numerical methods. For this reason the great progress in open channel ow modeling that took place during last 40 years paralleled the progress in computer technique, informatics and numerical methods. It is well known that even ty- cal hydraulic engineering problems need applications of computer codes. Thus, we witness a rapid development of ready-made packages, which are widely d- seminated and offered for engineers. However, it seems necessary for their users to be familiar with some fundamentals of numerical methods and computational techniques applied for solving the problems of interest. This is helpful for many r- sons. The ready-made packages can be effectively and safely applied on condition that the users know their possibilities and limitations. For instance, such knowledge is indispensable to distinguish in the obtained solutions the effects coming from the considered physical processes and those caused by numerical artifacts.

Modelling Hydrology Hydraulics And Contaminant Transport Systems In Python written by Soumendra Nath Kuiry and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-11-18 with Science categories.
This book covers theoretical aspects of the physical processes, derivation of the governing equations and their solutions. It focusses on hydraulics, hydrology, and contaminant transport, including implementation of computer codes with practical examples. Python-based computer codes for all the solution approaches are provided for better understanding and easy implementation. The mathematical models are demonstrated through applications and the results are analyzed through data tables, plots, and comparison with analytical and experimental data. The concepts are used to solve practical applications like surface and ground water flow, flood routing, crop water requirement and irrigation scheduling. Combines the area of computational hydraulics, hydrology, and water resources engineering with Python Gives deep description of the basic equations and the numerical solutions of both 1D and 2D problems including the numerical codes Includes step-by-step translation of numerical algorithms in computer codes with focus on learners and practitioners Demonstration of theory, mathematical models through practical applications Analysis of each example through data tables, plots, and correlation with reality This book is aimed at senior undergraduates and graduate students in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Hydrology, and Water Resources Engineering.

The second, enlarged edition of this established reference integrates many new insights into wastewater hydraulics. This work serves as a reference for researchers but also is a basis for practicing engineers. It can be used as a text book for graduate students, although it has the characteristics of a reference book. It addresses mainly the sewer hydraulician but also general hydraulic engineers who have to tackle many a problem in daily life, and who will not always find an appropriate solution. Each chapter is introduced with a summary to outline the contents. To illustrate application of the theory, examples are presented to explain the computational procedures. Further, to relate present knowledge to the history of hydraulics, some key dates on noteworthy hydraulicians are quoted. A historical note on the development of wastewater hydraulics is also added. References are given at the end of each chapter, and they are often helpful starting points for further reading. Each notation is defined when introduced, and listed alphabetically at the end of each chapter. This new edition includes in particular sideweirs with throttling pipes, drop shafts with an account on the two-phase flow features, as well as conduit choking due to direct or undular hydraulic jumps.
