Although many books on inverse problems already exist, they can be quite mathematical in nature and pay little attention to practical applications. This book forms a bridge between the theoretical foundations and practical applications of nondestructive evaluation methods. With unique emphasis on inverse problems in solid mechanics, it describes in detail the principles, computational methods and algorithms, and practical techniques of inverse analyses using elastic waves and dynamics responses in solids and structures. Applications of advanced computational inverse techniques to electronic sy.

Ill-posedness. Regularization. Stability. Uniqueness. To many engineers, the language of inverse analysis projects a mysterious and frightening image, an image made even more intimidating by the highly mathematical nature of most texts on the subject. But the truth is that given a sound experimental strategy, most inverse engineering problems can b

Microstructured Materials Inverse Problems written by Jaan Janno and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-08-27 with Mathematics categories.

Complex, microstructured materials are widely used in industry and technology and include alloys, ceramics and composites. Focusing on non-destructive evaluation (NDE), this book explores in detail the mathematical modeling and inverse problems encountered when using ultrasound to investigate heterogeneous microstructured materials. The outstanding features of the text are firstly, a clear description of both linear and nonlinear mathematical models derived for modelling the propagation of ultrasonic deformation waves, and secondly, the provision of solutions to the corresponding inverse problems that determine the physical parameters of the models. The data are related to nonlinearities at both a macro- and micro- level, as well as to dispersion. The authors’ goal has been to construct algorithms that allow us to determine the parameters within which we are required to characterize microstructure. To achieve this, the authors not only use conventional harmonic waves, but also propose a novel methodology based on using solitary waves in NDE. The book analyzes the uniqueness and stability of the solutions, in addition to providing numerical examples.

Soft Computing In Engineering written by Jamshid Ghaboussi and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-11 with Mathematics categories.

Soft computing methods such as neural networks and genetic algorithms draw on the problem solving strategies of the natural world which differ fundamentally from the mathematically-based computing methods normally used in engineering. Human brains are highly effective computers with capabilities far beyond those of the most sophisticated electronic computers. The 'soft computing‘ methods they use can solve very difficult inverse problems based on reduction in disorder. This book outlines these methods and applies them to a range of difficult engineering problems, including applications in computational mechanics, earthquake engineering, and engineering design. Most of these are difficult inverse problems – especially in engineering design – and are treated in depth.
