This latest ICCAS volume reports on the development of computer technology and its application for the benefit of the Marine and Offshore Industries. The technological evolution which has occurred in this area over the past two decades was stimulated by the achievements in computer technology but also as a response to the long series of world economic crises. The present situation seems to have hardened as the sector strives to compete. This lends even more importance to the vital role of computer applications in the success of Marine and Offshore Engineering.

M.A. Bramer University of Portsmouth, UK This volume comprises the refereed technical papers presented at ES2ooo, the Twentieth SGES International Conference on Knowledge Based Systems and Applied Artificial Intelligence, held in Cambridge in December 2000, together with an invited keynote paper by Professor Austin Tate. The conference was organised by SGES, the British Computer Society Specialist Group on Knowledge Based Systems and Applied Artificial Intelligence. The papers in this volume present new and innovative developments in the field, divided into sections on learning, case-based reasoning, knowledge representation, knowledge engineering, and belief acquisition and planning. The refereed papers begin with a paper entitled 'A Resource Limited Artificial Immune System for Data Analysis', which describes a machine learning algorithm inspired by the natural immune system. This paper was judged to be the best refereed technical paper submitted to the conference. The considerable growth in interest in machine learning in recent years is well reflected in the content of the next three sections, which comprise four papers on case-based reasoning and nine papers on other areas of machine learning. The remaining papers are devoted to knowledge engineering, knowledge representation, belief acquisition and planning, and include papers on such important emerging topics as knowledge reuse and representing the content of complex multimedia documents on the web. This is the seventeenth volume in the Research and Development series. The Application Stream papers are published as a companion volume under the title Applications and Innovations in Intelligent Systems VIII.

Operational Research written by João Paulo Almeida and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-10-01 with Mathematics categories.
This volume presents selected contributions by top researchers in the field of operations research, originating from the XVI Congress of APDIO. It provides interesting findings and applications of operations research methods and techniques in a wide variety of problems. The contributions address complex real-world problems, including inventory management with lateral transshipments, sectors and routes in solid-waste collection and production planning for perishable food products. It also discusses the latest techniques, making the volume a valuable tool for researchers, students and practitioners who wish to learn about current trends. Of particular interest are the applications of nonlinear and mixed-integer programming, data envelopment analysis, clustering techniques, hybrid heuristics, supply chain management and lot sizing, as well as job scheduling problems. This biennial conference, organized by APDIO, the Portuguese Association of Operational Research, held in Bragança, Portugal, in June 2013, presented a perfect opportunity to discuss the latest development in this field and to narrow the gap between academic researchers and practitioners.

Shape Interrogation For Computer Aided Design And Manufacturing written by Nicholas M. Patrikalakis and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-11-27 with Computers categories.
Shape interrogation is the process of extraction of information from a geometric model. It is a fundamental component of Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems. The authors focus on shape interrogation of geometric models bounded by free-form surfaces. Free-form surfaces, also called sculptured surfaces, are widely used in the bodies of ships, automobiles and aircraft, which have both functionality and attractive shape requirements. Many electronic devices as well as consumer products are designed with aesthetic shapes, which involve free-form surfaces. This book provides the mathematical fundamentals as well as algorithms for various shape interrogation methods including nonlinear polynomial solvers, intersection problems, differential geometry of intersection curves, distance functions, curve and surface interrogation, umbilics and lines of curvature, geodesics, and offset curves and surfaces. This book will be of interest both to graduate students and professionals.

Proceedings Of The 15th International Marine Design Conference written by Austin A. Kana and has been published by TU Delft OPEN Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-08-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The 15th International Marine Design Conference (IMDC-2024) was organized by the Department of Maritime and Transport Technology, Delft University of Technology, and was hosted by the Netherlands Defence Materiel Organisation at the Marine Etablissement Amsterdam (MEA). The aim of the IMDC is to promote all aspects of marine design as an engineering discipline. The focus of IMDC-2024 is on the key design challenges and opportunities in the maritime field with special emphasis on the following themes. Ship design methodology issues such as: design spiral, systems engineering, set-based design, design optimisation, concurrent design, modular design, configuration based design, or 'fuzzy' design aspects. Novel marine design concepts, such as: hull form design, transport ships, service vessels, naval vessels, yachts and cruise ships, or specialized and complex vessels. Offshore design methodology, such as applications to: offshore wind turbines, semi-submersibles, floating fish farms, or floating cities. Influence of energy transition on maritime design, including both zero emission and high power and energy systems. Influence of unmanned and autonomous transition on maritime design. Influence of digital transition on maritime design, such as: digital shadows and twins, model-based systems engineering, AI, ML and big data. Influence of regulations on maritime design.
