A collection of original contributions by researchers who work at the forefront of a new field, lying at the intersection of computer vision and computer graphics. Several original approaches are presented to the integration of computer vision and graphics techniques to aid in the realistic modelling of objects and scenes, interactive computer graphics, augmented reality, and virtual studios. Numerous applications are also discussed, including urban and archaeological site modelling, modelling dressed humans, medical visualisation, figure and facial animation, real-time 3D teleimmersion telecollaboration, augmented reality as a new user interface concept, and augmented reality in the understanding of underwater scenes.

This book presents an interdisciplinary selection of cutting-edge research on RGB-D based computer vision. Features: discusses the calibration of color and depth cameras, the reduction of noise on depth maps and methods for capturing human performance in 3D; reviews a selection of applications which use RGB-D information to reconstruct human figures, evaluate energy consumption and obtain accurate action classification; presents an approach for 3D object retrieval and for the reconstruction of gas flow from multiple Kinect cameras; describes an RGB-D computer vision system designed to assist the visually impaired and another for smart-environment sensing to assist elderly and disabled people; examines the effective features that characterize static hand poses and introduces a unified framework to enforce both temporal and spatial constraints for hand parsing; proposes a new classifier architecture for real-time hand pose recognition and a novel hand segmentation and gesture recognition system.

rd It is a pleasure and an honour both to organize ICB 2009, the 3 IAPR/IEEE Inter- tional Conference on Biometrics. This will be held 2–5 June in Alghero, Italy, hosted by the Computer Vision Laboratory, University of Sassari. The conference series is the premier forum for presenting research in biometrics and its allied technologies: the generation of new ideas, new approaches, new techniques and new evaluations. The ICB series originated in 2006 from joining two highly reputed conferences: Audio and Video Based Personal Authentication (AVBPA) and the International Conference on Biometric Authentication (ICBA). Previous conferences were held in Hong Kong and in Korea. This is the first time the ICB conference has been held in Europe, and by Programme Committee, arrangements and by the quality of the papers, ICB 2009 will continue to maintain the high standards set by its predecessors. In total we received around 250 papers for review. Of these, 36 were selected for oral presentation and 93 for poster presentation. These papers are accompanied by the invited speakers: Heinrich H. Bülthoff (Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, Tüb- gen, Germany) on “What Can Machine Vision Learn from Human Perception?”, - daoki Furui (Department of Computer Science, Tokyo Institute of Technology) on “40 Years of Progress in Automatic Speaker Recognition Technology” and Jean-Christophe Fondeur (SAGEM Security and Morpho, USA) on “Large Scale Deployment of Biom- rics and Border Control”.

Modern Methods For Affordable Clinical Gait Analysis written by Anup Nandy and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-27 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Modern Methods for Affordable Clinical Gait Analysis: Theories and Applications in Healthcare Systems is a handbook of techniques, tools and procedures for the study and improvement of human gait. It gives a concise description of clinical gait analysis, especially gait abnormality detection problems and therapeutic interventions using inexpensive devices. A brief demonstration on validation testing of these devices for its clinical applicability is also presented. Content coverage also includes step-by-step processing of the data acquired from these devices. Future perspectives of low-cost clinical gait assessment systems are explored. This book bridges the gap between engineering and biomedical fields as it diagnoses and monitors neuro-musculoskeletal abnormalities using the latest technologies. The authors discuss how early detection technology allows us to take precautionary measures, in order to delay the degeneration process, through development of a clinical gait analysis tool. One unique feature of this book is that it pays significant attention to the challenges of conducting gait analysis in developing countries with limited resources. This reference will guide you through setting up a low-cost gait analysis lab. It explores the relationship between vision-based pathological gait detection, the design of tools for gait diagnosis and therapeutic interventions. - Provides a concise tutorial on affordable clinical gait analysis - Analyses clinical validation of low-cost sensors for gait assessment - Documents recent and state-of-the-art low-cost gait abnormality detection systems and therapeutic intervention procedures
