This book is an edited volume of case studies exploring the uptake and use of computer supported collaborative learning in work settings. This book fills a significant gap in the literature. A number of existing works provide empirical research on collaborative work practices (Lave & Wenger, 1987; Davenport, 2005), the sharing of information at work (Brown & Duguid, 2000), and the development of communities of practice in workplace settings (Wenger, 1998). Others examine the munificent variation of information and communication technology use in the work place, including studies of informal social networks, formal information distribution and other socio-technical combinations found in work settings (Gibson & Cohen, 2003). Another significant thread of prior work is focused on computer supported collaborative learning, much of it investigating the application of computer support for learning in the context of traditional educational institutions, like public schools, private schools, colleges and tutoring organizations. Exciting new theories of how knowledge is constructed by groups (Stahl, 2006), how teachers contribute to collaborative learning (reference to another book in the series) and the application of socio-technical scripts for learning is explicated in book length works on CSCL. Book length empirical work on CSCW is widespread, and CSCL book length works are beginning to emerge with greater frequency. We distinguish CSCL at Work from prior books written under the aegis of training and development, or human resources more broadly. The book aims to fill a void between existing works in CSCW and CSCL, and will open with a chapter characterizing the emerging application of collaborative learning theories and practices to workplace learning. CSCL and CSCW research each make distinct and important contributions to the construction of collaborative workplace learning.

This book is intended for anyone who wants to prepare for the Information Security Foundation based on ISO / IEC 27001 exam of EXIN. All information security concepts in this revised edition are based on the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO/IEC 27002:2022 standards. A realistic case study running throughout the book usefully demonstrates how theory translates into an operating environment. In all these cases, knowledge about information security is important and this book therefore provides insight and background information about the measures that an organization could take to protect information appropriately. Sometimes security measures are enforced by laws and regulations. This practical and easy-to-read book clearly explains the approaches or policy for information security management that most organizations can consider and implement. It covers: The quality requirements an organization may have for information The risks associated with these quality requirements The countermeasures that are necessary to mitigate these risks How to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster When and whether to report incidents outside the organization.

Human values--including accountability, privacy, autonomy, and respect for person--emerge from the computer systems that we build and how we choose to use them. Yet, important questions on human values and system design have remained largely unexplored. If human values are controversial, then on what basis do some values override others in the design of, for example, hardware, algorithms, and databases? Do users interact with computer systems as social actors? If so, should designers of computer persona and agents seek to build on such human tendencies, or check them? How have design decisions in hospitals, research labs, and computer corporations protected or degraded such values? This volume brings together leading researchers and system designers who take up these questions, and more.

Examples of recent events that illustrate the vulnerability of information are also included. This book is primarily developed as a study book for anyone who wants to pass the ISFS (Information Security Foundation) exam of EXIN.
