The Sounds Of Feminist Theory written by Ruth Salvaggio and has been published by SUNY Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-01-01 with Literary Criticism categories.

"A range of contemporary feminist critical writers are discussed: Gloria Anzaldua, Judith Butler, Helene Cixous, Rachel Blau DuPlessis, Jane Flax, Susan Griffin, Donna Haraway, Luce Irigaray, Julia Kristeva, Elaine Pagels, Adrienne Rich, Eve Sedgwick, Joan Scott, Jane Tompkins, Trinh Minh-ha, and Patricia Williams. Their investment in the oral modulations of words marks not only a provocative engagement with the incommensurability of contemporary theory, but also a turn to the ambiguous and tangled qualities of language - "poetic literacy" - that generate an evocative epistemology."--BOOK JACKET.

... well-written and well-documented landmark study... " --Choice This book raises important ideological and esthetic questions about the interpretation of artistic and cultural manifestations in a given society."--Hispanic American Historical Review The present volume is provocative in direction and a refreshing addition to the extant literature on the Mexican corrido genre." --American Ethnologist [Herrera-Sobek's] refreshing approach to analyzing masculine attitudes toward the feminine as expressed in the Mexican corrido is not only insightful but courageous." --Inez Cardozo-Freeman, Southern Folklore ... well-researched, insightful, clearly written, and well-illustrated study of a genre familiar in Hispanic culture." --Journal of the American Studies Association ... provides tantalizing insights into the inner workings and meanings of Mexico's favorite folk ballads..." --Journal of Third World Studies Challenging the stereotypical view of the passive Mexican/Chicana woman of the archetype, the author examines the portrayal of female figures in over three thousand corridos or Mexican ballads and shows that in spite of long-dominant patriarchal ideology, the corridos reveal the presence of self-confident women throughout Mexican history. Included are a discography, a detailed bibliography of corrido collections, and several photographs of soldaderas from the internationally famous Augustin Casasola collection.

By the late 1980s and early 1990s, a great number of TV shows and music acts blossomed in Colombia, all of which resorted to regional identity as the narrative core for a renewed idea of national identity. Among them was “Clasicos de la provincial,” an album by Colombian singer Carlos Vives and his band La Provincia (1993), which marked the beginning of a successful career that has spanned nearly three decades. Vives´s work not only earned much deserved recognition in the musical industry from the beginning, but most importantly, has come to be renowned as a landmark in the cultural history of Colombia. This book is the first in-depth analysis focused on the creation and production process of Vives´s work, its main musical and literary features, and its influence on other musicians and in the construction of a narrative about national identity that is still relevant today. More than fifty interviews with Vives and members of the band, musicians, journalists, radio programmers, musical producers, and other key players of the process, together with an extensive review of hundreds of documents, are the sources for this book, which earned its authors a national award in Colombia (2015).

This book, "De Mi Mente" (Spanish for from my mind), is a book of over 3,000 lyrics of which approximate 2,100 are written for a man to sing and the latter 900 are written for a woman to sing. All songs are interchangeable. Some of the songs are love songs but the lyrics are not written for political and religious reasons. The reader will have the option to arrange each song according to his or her taste of which each and every song can be arranged in a bolero, ranchera, cumbia; etc. The reader can choose at their choice of which song inspires them and in they are not obligated to make any musical arrangement. This material is a new form of reading material to bring out the talent of musicians, singers and entertainers. This book hopes to reach the Spanish speaking world. I apologize for the grammar errors and thank the public for their cooperation and courtesy. I also encourage mariachi performers to buy the book and add their attention in this matter.
