Many a statecrafts, many form of governments, many types of leaderships have been experienced by human society so far. There is no denying the fact that all the statecrafts and the world as a whole is suffering from the crisis of leadership. Due to the lack of holistic approach to leadership governance has not been reflected anywhere of the globe through public welfare, honesty, transparency, rule of law and inclusive development. Leadership so far has been studied in terms of top-down approach which emphasizes the power and domination of few microscopic leader-elites at the top over the general masses at the down. This is very wrong, non-inclusive, frenzied and anti-people approach to leadership. This book is just the denial of this limited, narrow and selfish approach and in lieu of this elite approach this book represents a holistic approach to leadership. Holistic approach elucidates the route to all-round development. Sound concept of leadership argues that it is not sufficient for the leaders to be able, capacitated, physically, mentally and spiritually elevated but the general people, the stakeholders of the governance should also be elevated highly in all fields –physical, mental and spiritual. This book highlights the importance of honesty, morality, spirituality, sacrificing and benevolent mentality in the mind-set of the leaders who in acquisition of these qualities can only play their role in social transformation. When by the influence of positive auto-suggestion leaders as well as the masses will move together towards physical, mental, psychic, moral and spiritual development social transformation will be possible. Concept of leadership can only make it possible in reality. This is how the book 'concept of leadership and its contemporary relevance in a changing world' is pertinent. This book is not only a collection of dry pages; this book is the outlines of a dream how to live and why to live.

Democracy And Democratization written by Georg Sorensen and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-04 with Political Science categories.
What is democracy? What are the pitfalls and the positive potentials in the growing trend toward democratization? This book examines the prospects for democracy in the world today and frames the central dilemma confronting all states touched by the process of democratization. Georg Sorensen clarifies the concept of democracy, shows its application in different contexts, and questions whether democratic advancement will continue-and if so, at what price. The consequences of democracy for economic development, human rights, and peaceful relations among countries are illuminated in both their positive and negative aspects. This third edition includes an entirely new chapter on the promotion of democracy from the outside which covers current issues of state building in Iraq. Further revisions include updates to the section on the prospects of democracy in today's world, an extended discussion of the economic performance of recently democratized countries, and an evaluation of the possibilities for further democratic consolidation. There are also new case studies, examples, and anecdotes to illustrate historical as well as contemporary instances of democratic transition. Democracy, as Sorensen convincingly portrays it, is a value in itself as well as a potential promoter of peace, prosperity, and human well-being. But democracy is not inevitable, and actions at every level-from the individual to the international-are necessary to ensure that frail or 'frozen' democracies do not flounder and that established democracies flourish.

Although not new, the concept of distributed (shared) leadership has re-emerged in recent years as one highly promising response to the complex challenges currently faced by schools. Responding productively to these challenges far exceeds the capacities of any individual leader. If schools are to flourish in the future, they will need to enlist the collective expertise of many more of their members and stakeholders than they have in the past. The purpose of this volume is to both present and synthesize the best available evidence about the nature, causes, and effects of distributed school leadership. The book also clarifies common misunderstandings about distributed leadership and identifies promising implications for practice and for future research. Key features include... Expertise – Written by the most active and widely respected scholars engaged in research on distributed leadership, the book encompasses the very latest knowledge about the nature, causes and consequences of such leadership in schools. Comparative Models – The book compares various approaches to distributed leadership and examines the conditions under which some approaches may be better than others in improving schools. Evidence-Based – Much of the popularity of distributed leadership is rooted in expectations unsupported by systematic empirical evidence. Virtually all of the available evidence about distributed approach to leadership can be found in this book. This book is appropriate for researchers studying school leadership, instructors and students in graduate-level school leadership courses and practicing administrators at the district and building level.

How do you lead, motivate and inspire individuals who are as knowledgeable as you are? How do you lead individuals who are knowledge creators (innovators, scientists, academicians, entrepreneurs, etc.) and whose core task is to create something new? While we live in a world that is becoming increasingly automated, humans will continue to dominate one significant kind of work-knowledge work. Knowledge workers can be found in professions like education, consulting, engineering, architecture, design, art and R&D. First among Equals describes the 'T-R-E-A-T' framework of leadership that is a combination of five behavioural traits-task-orientation, relation-orientation, empowering, authenticity and team-building. By presenting real-life examples of leaders from India, the book describes how the 'T-R-E-A-T' leadership affects the 'L-E-A-P' (learning, enjoyment, autonomy and performance) of knowledge workers and impacts their perceptions of fairness, creating positive psychological capacities and generating autonomous motivation. Leaders of knowledge workers have to consider themselves as 'first among equals' in order to be effective in a knowledge work context.

It examines the strategic thinking, leadership styles, and historical contexts of influential war generals throughout history. The book analyzes not just battle outcomes, but also the decisions, innovations, and human factors that determine victory or defeat, highlighting the importance of adaptability and command. Did you know, for example, that effective command is a principle that remains constant despite technological advancements? The book systematically builds its argument, beginning with key concepts like logistics and troop morale. It then delves into case studies of military leaders such as Alexander the Great and Napoleon Bonaparte. It scrutinizes the historical context, available resources, and challenges faced by these leaders. Finally, it analyzes common threads connecting these figures, drawing conclusions about the enduring qualities of successful military leadership. The book's approach enriches understanding by connecting military history with political history and military science.

Throughout the entire Cold War era, Vietnam served as a grim symbol of the ideological polarity that permeated international politics. But when the Cold War ended in 1989, Vietnam faced the difficult task of adjusting to a new world without the benefactors it had come to rely on. In Changing Worlds, David W. P. Elliott, who has spent the past half century studying modern Vietnam, chronicles the evolution of the Vietnamese state from the end of the Cold War to the present. When the communist regimes of Eastern Europe collapsed, so did Vietnam's model for analyzing and engaging with the outside world. Fearing that committing fully to globalization would lead to the collapse of its own system, the Vietnamese political elite at first resisted extensive engagement with the larger international community. Over the next decade, though, China's rapid economic growth and the success of the Asian "tiger economies," along with a complex realignment of regional and global international relations reshaped Vietnamese leaders' views. In 1995 Vietnam joined the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), its former adversary, and completed the normalization of relations with the United States. By 2000, Vietnam had "taken the plunge" and opted for greater participation in the global economic system. Vietnam finally joined the World Trade Organization in 2006. Elliott contends that Vietnam's political elite ultimately concluded that if the conservatives who opposed opening up to the outside world had triumphed, Vietnam would have been condemned to a permanent state of underdevelopment. Partial reform starting in the mid-1980s produced some success, but eventually the reformers' argument that Vietnam's economic potential could not be fully exploited in a highly competitive world unless it opted for deep integration into the rapidly globalizing world economy prevailed. Remarkably, deep integration occurred without Vietnam losing its unique political identity. It remains an authoritarian state, but offers far more breathing space to its citizens than in the pre-reform era. Far from being absorbed into a Western-inspired development model, globalization has reinforced Vietnam's distinctive identity rather than eradicating it. The market economy led to a revival of localism and familism which has challenged the capacity of the state to impose its preferences and maintain the wartime narrative of monolithic unity. Although it would be premature to talk of a genuine civil society, today's Vietnam is an increasingly pluralistic community. Drawing from a vast body of Vietnamese language sources, Changing Worlds is the definitive account of how this highly vulnerable Communist state remade itself amidst the challenges of the post-Cold War era.
