New Sinc Methods Of Numerical Analysis written by Gerd Baumann and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-23 with Mathematics categories.
This contributed volume honors the 80th birthday of Frank Stenger who established new Sinc methods in numerical analysis. The contributions, written independently from each other, show the new developments in numerical analysis in connection with Sinc methods and approximations of solutions for differential equations, boundary value problems, integral equations, integrals, linear transforms, eigenvalue problems, polynomial approximations, computations on polyhedra, and many applications. The approximation methods are exponentially converging compared with standard methods and save resources in computation. They are applicable in many fields of science including mathematics, physics, and engineering. The ideas discussed serve as a starting point in many different directions in numerical analysis research and applications which will lead to new and unprecedented results. This book will appeal to a wide readership, from students to specialized experts.

Nonlocal And Fractional Operators written by Luisa Beghin and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-23 with Mathematics categories.
The purpose of this volume is to explore new bridges between different research areas involved in the theory and applications of the fractional calculus. In particular, it collects scientific and original contributions to the development of the theory of nonlocal and fractional operators. Special attention is given to the applications in mathematical physics, as well as in probability. Numerical methods aimed to the solution of problems with fractional differential equations are also treated in the book. The contributions have been presented during the international workshop "Nonlocal and Fractional Operators", held in Sapienza University of Rome, in April 2019, and dedicated to the retirement of Prof. Renato Spigler (University Roma Tre). Therefore we also wish to dedicate this volume to this occasion, in order to celebrate his scientific contributions in the field of numerical analysis and fractional calculus. The book is suitable for mathematicians, physicists and applied scientists interested in the various aspects of fractional calculus.

Praise for How I Became a Quant "Led by two top-notch quants, Richard R. Lindsey and Barry Schachter, How I Became a Quant details the quirky world of quantitative analysis through stories told by some of today's most successful quants. For anyone who might have thought otherwise, there are engaging personalities behind all that number crunching!" --Ira Kawaller, Kawaller & Co. and the Kawaller Fund "A fun and fascinating read. This book tells the story of how academics, physicists, mathematicians, and other scientists became professional investors managing billions." --David A. Krell, President and CEO, International Securities Exchange "How I Became a Quant should be must reading for all students with a quantitative aptitude. It provides fascinating examples of the dynamic career opportunities potentially open to anyone with the skills and passion for quantitative analysis." --Roy D. Henriksson, Chief Investment Officer, Advanced Portfolio Management "Quants"--those who design and implement mathematical models for the pricing of derivatives, assessment of risk, or prediction of market movements--are the backbone of today's investment industry. As the greater volatility of current financial markets has driven investors to seek shelter from increasing uncertainty, the quant revolution has given people the opportunity to avoid unwanted financial risk by literally trading it away, or more specifically, paying someone else to take on the unwanted risk. How I Became a Quant reveals the faces behind the quant revolution, offering you?the?chance to learn firsthand what it's like to be a?quant today. In this fascinating collection of Wall Street war stories, more than two dozen quants detail their roots, roles, and contributions, explaining what they do and how they do it, as well as outlining the sometimes unexpected paths they have followed from the halls of academia to the front lines of an investment revolution.

Alladi Ramakrishnan (1923–2008) was an eminent scientist who had a wide range of research interests in theoretical and mathematical physics. Professor Ramakrishnan made signi?cant contributions to probability and statistics, elem- tary particle physics, cosmic rays and astrophysics, matrix theory, and the special theory of relativity. Ramakrishnan believedstrongly that in addition to doing fun- mental research, one must contribute to the advancementof the profession. Inspired by his visit to the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton in 1957–1958, he returned to Madras and began the Theoretical Physics Seminar at his family home Ekamra Nivas. These seminars were ultimately responsible for the creation of MATSCIENCE, The Institute of Mathematical Sciences in 1962. This institute, of which he was the Director for its ?rst 21years, has grown steadily in size and stature, and is his monumental contribution to the profession. In a distinguished scienti?c life that has spanned more than ?ve decades, Professor Ramakrishnan has come into close contact with, and was in?uenced by, several eminent mathema- cians and physicists, and has moulded the careers of his several students and young researchers. This volume, which is a tribute to his great legacy, not only deals with his signi?cant contributions to research and the profession, but also contains a ?ne collection of research and survey papers by leading physicists and mathematicians that cover a broad range of areas in the mathematical sciences.
