In this volume, the author deals explicitly and literally with the speech-thought relationship. Departing boldly from contemporary linguistic and psycholinguistic thinking, the author offers us one of the truly serious efforts since Vygotsky to deal with this question. A unifying theme is the organization of action, and speech is seen as growing out of sensory-motor representations that are simultaneously part of meaning and part of action.

Concept Mapping As An Assessment Tool For Conceptual Understanding In Mathematics written by Haiyue JIN and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-05-05 with Education categories.

This book investigates the practicability and effectiveness of the concept map as a tool for assessing students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics. The author first introduces concept mapping and then employs it to investigate students’ conceptual understanding of four different mathematical topics. Alongside traditional scoring methods, she adopts Social Network Analysis, a new technique, to interpret student-constructed concept maps, which reveals fresh insights into the graphic features of the concept map and into how students connect mathematical concepts. By comparing two traditional school tests with the concept map, she examines its concurrent validity and discusses its strengths and drawbacks from the viewpoint of assessing conceptual understanding. With self-designed questionnaires, interviews, and open-ended writing tasks, she also investigates students and teachers’ attitudes toward concept mapping and describes the implications these findings may have for concept mapping’s use in school and for further research on the topic. Scholars and postgraduate students of mathematics education and teachers interested in concept mapping or assessing conceptual understanding in classroom settings will find this book an informative, inspiring, and overall valuable addition to their libraries.

This book serves as the platform to educate people at all levels to understand the fundamentals of fiqh processes pertaining especially to the conceptual idea of the globalization of the Mu’amalat fiqh forensic particularly as the guideline for the innovation of various financial products in the Islamic financial system. The main goal of this book is to illustrate the step-by-step procedure on how an arising issue is resolved through fiqh. The heart of all fiqh issues is the identification stage. All arising issues must first be identified whether they fall under the category of qat’iy (definitive) or zanni (speculative), whether they are the matter of usul (roots) or furu’ (branches), and whether they belong under the matter of ittifaq (consensus in agreement) or ikhtilaf (difference in opinion). Once all these have been properly identified, only then can the people in charge proceed with the next step of resolving the said issues. In this current age of world without borders due to globalization, it becomes necessary for experts in the social and Islamic science fields to collaborate together to come up with a solution that simultaneously fulfills both the local and international market demands. Harmonization of these two different disciplines is difficult without proper guidance, and this book primarily strives to achieve that based on the author’s background of expertise and years of experience in solving numerous fiqh issues through this harmonization method.

The Theory Of Info Statics Conceptual Foundations Of Information And Knowledge written by Kofi K. Dompere and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book discusses the development of a theory of info-statics as a sub-theory of the general theory of information. It describes the factors required to establish a definition of the concept of information that fixes the applicable boundaries of the phenomenon of information, its linguistic structure and scientific applications. The book establishes the definitional foundations of information and how the concepts of uncertainty, data, fact, evidence and evidential things are sequential derivatives of information as the primary category, which is a property of matter and energy. The sub-definitions are extended to include the concepts of possibility, probability, expectation, anticipation, surprise, discounting, forecasting, prediction and the nature of past-present-future information structures. It shows that the factors required to define the concept of information are those that allow differences and similarities to be established among universal objects over the ontological and epistemological spaces in terms of varieties and identities. These factors are characteristic and signal dispositions on the basis of which general definitional foundations are developed to construct the general information definition (GID). The book then demonstrates that this definition is applicable to all types of information over the ontological and epistemological spaces. It also defines the concepts of uncertainty, data, fact, evidence and knowledge based on the GID. Lastly, it uses set-theoretic analytics to enhance the definitional foundations, and shows the value of the theory of info-statics to establish varieties and categorial varieties at every point of time and thus initializes the construct of the theory of info-dynamics.

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2011 in the subject Computer Science - Commercial Information Technology, grade: Sehr gut, Technical University of Berlin (Fakultät IV – Elektrotechnik und Informatik), language: English, abstract: The last two decades have shown a major shift from stand-alone to networked information technology (IT) systems. Consequently, the effective and efficient achievement of interoperability is a key factor to enable seamless business process chains and networks across intra- and inter-organizational boundaries. Thereby, interoperability can be understood along three dimensions: technical, semantic and organizational interoperability. While the concept of service-oriented architectures (SOA) and widely accepted Web service standards have benefited technical interoperability in recent years substantially, managing and integrating semantic differences in heterogeneous distributed environments remains critical and cost intensive. In order to preserve the precise meaning as data is moved from one IT system to another, explicit formal information models in terms of ontologies have evolved as the concept of choice from academia to first industry adoption. However, it has been recognized that the dominant approach of developing a common, globally shared ontology as an information model standard has turned out to be limited in real world cross-domain environments. Organizational boundaries with regard to consensus degree and the complexity deriving from inherent domain-specific differences in requirements force a coexistence of independently managed but however semantic interoperable information models. In order to address this challenge, the guiding idea of this work is to transfer the principle of loose coupling to the semantic level. In particular, the goal of this thesis is to contribute to the reduction of complexity in semantic system integration by developing an effective and efficient approach for semantic interoperability in large-scale SOA landscapes based on semantic mediation between loosely coupled information models. Moreover, this work shows how emerging semantic technologies can contribute to the instantiation of this concept exploiting their capabilities to explicitly express semantics. The developed approach is evaluated based on a case study of an exemplary distributed organization. It is shown how the approach of semantic mediation between loosely coupled information models can be applied in practice and which benefits can be generated with regard to achieving effective and efficient semantic interoperability in large-scale SOA landscapes.
