Entity Relationship Modeling written by Bernhard Thalheim and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-09 with Computers categories.

Database technology and entity-relationship (ER) modeling have meanwhile reached the level of an established technology. This book presents the achievements of research in this field in a comprehensive survey. It deals with the entity-relationship model and its extensions with regard to an integrated development and modeling of database applications and, consequently, the specification of structures, behavior and interaction. Apart from research on the ER model and the syntax, semantics, and pragmatics of database modeling the book also presents techniques for the translation of the ER model into classical database models and languages such as relational, hierarchical, and network models and languages, and also into object-oriented models. The book is of interest for all database theoreticians as well as practitioners who are provided with the relevant foundations of database modeling.

The objective of the workshops held in conjunction with ER 2002, the 21st International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, was to give participants the opportunitytopresentanddiscussemerginghottopics,thusaddingnewpersp- tives to conceptual modeling. To meet this objective, we selected the following four workshops: – 2nd InternationalWorkshop on Evolution and Changein Data Management (ECDM 2002) – ER/IFIP8. 1 Workshop on Conceptual Modelling Approaches to Mobile - formation Systems Development (MobIMod 2002) – International Workshop on Conceptual Modeling Quality (IWCMQ 2002) – 3rd International Joint Workshop on Conceptual Modeling Approaches for E-business: a Web Service Perspective (eCOMO 2002) ER 2002 was organized so that there would be no overlap between the c- ference sessions and the workshops. This proceedings contains workshop papers that wererevisedby the authors following discussions during the conference. We are deeply indebted to the members of the organizing committees and program committees of these workshops for their hard work. July 2003 Antoni Oliv ́ e, Masatoshi Yoshikawa, and Eric S. K. The management of evolution and change and the ability of database, information and knowledge-based systems to deal with change is an essential component in developing and maintaining truly useful systems. Conceptual Modeling For E Business And The Web written by Stephen W. Liddle and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-06-29 with Computers categories.

The objective of the workshops associated with the ER2000 19th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling was to give participants the opportunity to present and discuss emerging, hot topics, thus adding new perspectives to conceptual modeling. This attracts communities which have begun to or which have already recognized the importance of conceptual modeling for solving their problems. To meet this objective, we selected the following two topics: { Conceptual Modeling Approaches for E-Business (eCOMO2000) aimed at studying the application of conceptual modeling techniques speci cally to e-business. { The World Wide Web and Conceptual Modeling (WCM2000) which analyzes how conceptual modeling can help address the challenges of Web devel- ment, management, and use. eCOMO2000 is the rst international workshop on Conceptual Modeling - proaches for E-Business. It was intended to work out and to discuss the actual state of research on conceptual modeling aspects and methods within the realm of the network economy, which is driven by both traditionally organized ent- prises and dynamic networks. Following the philosophy of the ER workshops, the selection of eCOMO contributions was done very carefully and restrictively (six accepted papers out of thirteen submissions) in order to guarantee an excellent workshop program. We are deeply indebted to the authors and to the members of the program committee, whose work resulted in this outstanding program.

Information And Database Quality written by Mario G. Piattini and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.

In a global and increasingly competitive market, where organizations are driven by information, the search for ways to transform data into true knowledge is critical to a business's success. Few companies, however, have effective methods of managing the quality of this information. Because quality is a multidimensional concept, its management must consider a wide variety of issues related to information and data quality. Information and Database Quality is a compilation of works from research and industry that examines these issues, covering both the organizational and technical aspects of information and data quality. Information and Database Quality is an excellent reference for both researchers and professionals involved in any aspect of information and database research.

Metrics For Software Conceptual Models written by Marcela Genero and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-01-04 with Computers categories.

The idea that “measuring quality is the key to developing high-quality software systems” is gaining relevance. Moreover, it is widely recognised that the key to obtaining better software systems is to measure the quality characteristics of early artefacts, produced at the conceptual modelling phase. Therefore, improving the quality of conceptual models is a major step towards the improvement of software system development.Since the 1970s, software engineers had been proposing high quantities of metrics for software products, processes and resources but had not been paying any special attention to conceptual modelling. By the mid-1990s, however, the need for metrics for conceptual modelling had emerged. This book provides an overview of the most relevant existing proposals of metrics for conceptual models, covering conceptual models for both products and processes.

Handbook Of Conceptual Modeling written by David W. Embley and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-04-23 with Computers categories.

Conceptual modeling is about describing the semantics of software applications at a high level of abstraction in terms of structure, behavior, and user interaction. Embley and Thalheim start with a manifesto stating that the dream of developing information systems strictly by conceptual modeling – as expressed in the phrase “the model is the code” – is becoming reality. The subsequent contributions written by leading researchers in the field support the manifesto's assertions, showing not only how to abstractly model complex information systems but also how to formalize abstract specifications in ways that let developers complete programming tasks within the conceptual model itself. They are grouped into sections on programming with conceptual models, structure modeling, process modeling, user interface modeling, and special challenge areas such as conceptual geometric modeling, information integration, and biological conceptual modeling. The Handbook of Conceptual Modeling collects in a single volume many of the best conceptual-modeling ideas, techniques, and practices as well as the challenges that drive research in the field. Thus it is much more than a traditional handbook for advanced professionals, as it also provides both a firm foundation for the field of conceptual modeling, and points researchers and graduate students towards interesting challenges and paths for how to contribute to this fundamental field of computer science.
