Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel share much in common. They address the pivotal times and topics associated with the last stages of the monarchical history of Israel, and with the development of new forms of communal and religious life through exile and beyond. One important structural component of all three books is a substantial section which concerns itself with a range of foreign nations, commonly called the “Oracles against the Nations”, which form the focus of this book. These chapters together present the most up-to-date scholarship on the oracles - an oft-neglected but significant area in the study of the prophetic literature. The particular characteristics of Isaiah, Jeremiah (both Masoretic Text and Septuagint versions), and Ezekiel, are discussed showcasing the unique issues pertinent to each book and the diverse methods used to address them. These evident differences aside, the Oracles Against the Nations are employed as a springboard in order to begin the work of tracing similarities between the texts. By focusing on these unique yet common sections, a range of interrelated themes and issues of both content and method become noticeable: for example, though not exhaustively, pattern, structure, language, comparative history, archaeology, sociology, politics, literature, imagery, theme, theology, and hermeneutical issues related to today's context. As a result this collection presents a range of cutting-edge approaches on these key prophetic books, and will provide a basis for further comparative study and reflection.

This book is the single volume of the combined books The Nations in Prophecy, Israel in Prophecy and The Church in Prophecy. It outlines the broad scope of human history and its relationship to prophecy, from creation to the eternal state, combining prophecies concerning the nations, Israel, and the Church. This approach is designed to give the reader a broad interpretation of the entire prophetic word, avoiding the confusion that often exists when mingling the three prophetic strains. Publication in this form is designed to provide the reader with an understandable statement of what the Bible teaches about the future. ever written. It reveals the omnipotent God unfolding his purpose for the nations in measured movements designed to demonstrate his own sovereignty, wisdom and power. Though in the original creation man was made in the image and likeness of God, the author argues that during the fall the image became marred. Nevertheless man was destined to become the channel of divine revelation. The history of the human race as recorded in Scripture was designed to demonstrate both the inadequacy of the creature and the sufficiency of the omnipotent Creator. Earth was to be the stage and man the actor. The author argues that in the 20th century, history seems to be working towards this destiny. capstone to the previous discussion of prophecy relating to the nations and to Israel. Other books by this author include The Blessed Hope and the Tribulation, The Holy Spirit, The Millennial Kingdom and The Rapture Epistles.

Despite living in a very connected world today, few of us have any real understanding of the history of nations. Secular scholars and scientists from various fields rarely consult the Bible’s rich history on the subject. Yet if we consider what the Bible has to say about the global community’s past—and future—achievements and mistakes, we discover a saga as fascinating as anything produced in Hollywood. In God & the Nations, Dr. Henry Morris does an unusual thing: he shows clearly that God is even more interested in the fate of each person as He is about the unfolding of national stories. Additionally, he delves into the mysterious world of Bible prophecy to proclaim the God of the Bible as truly unique. Morris, through this study of civilizations, reveals the origins and purpose for the whole world!

There is a growing body of literature about the missional church, but the word missional is often defined in competing ways with little attempt to ground it deeply in Scripture. Michael Goheen, a dynamic speaker and the coauthor of two popular texts on the biblical narrative, unpacks the missional identity of the church by tracing the role God's people are called to play in the biblical story. Goheen shows that the church's identity can be understood only when its role is articulated in the context of the whole biblical story--not just the New Testament, but the Old Testament as well. He also explores practical outworkings and implications, offering field-tested suggestions for contemporary churches.

Today's world has its eyes on Jerusalem, believing that the next world war will break out over this city. Jerusalem is indeed a "cup of trembling" and will continue to be so in spite of false peace initiatives.

Christ Shepherd Of The Nations written by Jon Morales and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-28 with Religion categories.

Does John's Apocalypse envision destruction or salvation for the nations of the world? Scholarly views on this issue range from extreme (total destruction) to extreme (universal salvation). Jon Morales maintains that the question must be reframed to highlight, not only the destiny of the nations, but also their dilemma within the drama of world history. Using narrative methodology, Morales asks four key questions concerning the nations: What is John's story of the nations? How does he tell this story? What is John's message to the nations? And what is his message to the church concerning the nations? Literary characters cannot be understood in the abstract, but must be rather discovered sequentially in the development of an entire narrative. The nations in Revelation are no exception. Understanding that previous studies have neglected to situate the nations within Revelation's larger plot, or in interaction with other narrative characters, Morales concludes that John's purpose is to show that the nations belong to God. John achieves his purpose in part by deploying a novel metaphor, virtually unexplored until now – Christ, shepherd of the nations

Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance...Isaiah 40:15 A fascinating title from creationist icon Henry Morris Perfect for Christians who focus on apologetics Focuses on a rare, but important topic: God's plan for individual countries In the Bible, we see the interest God has in humans and their cultures. In the Old and New Testaments, the Hebrew and Greek words for "nations" occurs 720 times. Many of the nations that were given land and resources during Bible times have now passed into history, such as the Assyrians, Babylonians, and Hittites. We also know from secular history that civilizations like the Aztecs and Greeks are also largely removed from the scene. All this is due to those nations rejection of God’s laws. Indeed, of the 200 nations in existence today, only a handful actively seek God.

As the curtain rises on the 21st century, the United States of America is at war with an enemy that possesses a global reach. Policy makers warn that the struggle against terrorism is different from any other campaign in our nation's history. It will be fought on an international scale against a particularly elusive and determined enemy over an extended period of time. Each day, dark and menacing headlines raise new questions concerning what the future holds. Many today are naturally looking to the Bible for answers to their questions and fears. What does all that is happening to our world mean? Is God in control and looking after the world, or do we live in a world driven only by chance? Is God directing world events and peoples lives, or are these left to the devices of men? If God is directing world events, then is He doing so in according to a definite purpose, or by directionless whim? If God is directing world events according to a definite purpose, then what is that purpose? Is it possible for evil forces to usurp God's purpose, or do outcomes always reflect God's will? If God has formed a definite purpose for humankind, then how are the current world events working toward that end? If world events are fulfilling God's preordained purpose and divine program for the nations of the world, what role is the United States to play? The Fate of Our Nation combines American history, current events, and Bible prophecy in a unique, exciting, and informative look at what the future holds for the United States of America. It also looks at what the Bible has to say about Iraq, and the other nations of the Middle East.

Why should you care about Israel? With the war in Iraq, possible engagement in Iran, and an imminent presidential election, U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and the issue of solidarity with Israel remain important. In Two Nations Under God, American missionary Tom Doyle presents even greater reasons why the U.S. should show concern for Israel. Part one, “Why Should America Care?” is a biblical and historical primer on Israel with fascinating insights into connections between American and Middle East culture. Part two, “Sorting Out the Middle East Maze,” presents more facts about Islam and the spiritual roots behind the Middle East conflicts. Part three, “Maximizing the Moment,” is a call to action and prayer for the A merican church regarding the future of Israel. Best of all, readers will learn throughout that, despite the headlines, there is plenty of good news coming from the Middle East. Doyle reports on the increasing number of Muslims converting to Christianity, profiles local disciples and church planters, and provides helpful timelines, comparison charts, photographs, and more to keep every detail concerning Israel in perspective. Endorsements: "Chaos. Carnage. Confusion. For many, that’s the modern Middle East. But Tom Doyle gets it. Better yet, he can really explain it. With a pastor’s heart, he clearly and concisely describes why God loves the Jews of Israel and her Muslim neighbors, and why we should, too. What’s more, Tom reveals how powerfully God is moving in the modern Middle East, and how we can join Him. Two Nations under God is a must read—fascinating, insightful, and deeply thought-provoking. Get one for yourself, and another for your pastor." Joel C. Rosenberg, New York Times best-selling author of Epicenter: Why the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your Future
