Confessions of a Contemporary Prophet is a travelog beginning with a young boy raisedby his mother. He discovers that he drinks life in deep gulps experiencing things others do not encounter. Boyhood leads to college, college to the business world, the business world to the seminary, and the seminary to the life of the pastor. Laced through it all are supernatural experiences expressed in premonitions, dreams, and head on collisions with evil. This little books is more than a journey, it is a theological reflection on life that sides with the Bible as a revelation true and certain. Its pages reveal battlefields. Wars are fought within the mind, within the heart, and within the culture. And finally, perhaps the most deadly trap for the Christian pilgrim is openly displayed.

The role of religious prophetic witness in the public discourse of modern civil societies is a vital question, not only for the churches, but for society as a whole. Is it still appropriate for churches to make use of prophetic witness as a mode of public discourse in contemporary democratic societies? Can biblical tradition be a referential source for prophetic public statements of the churches in highly debated political questions? Or must public discourse in pluralistic societies be strictly grounded in purely reason-based arguments? This book deals with these questions in a multi-disciplinary perspective, looking at historical settings of biblical texts and discussing contemporary issues and contexts. "In John 1:14, the Bible declares that Jesus is the Word of God made flesh. Any time we sense God's presence, His Word is present. He imparts to us an awareness of who He is, and with His presence comes clarity concerning His will. Justin Allen, in his book, Confessions of a Young Prophet, gathers insights gleaned from his life as a gifted prophetic leader. In these pages, Justin shares both the bumps and victories of hearing prophetically and learning to convey God's heart to others. The Word of God is the most powerful force in the universe. Our God spoke the entire Creation into being, and His Word now lives within each believer. Regardless of gifting or call, every believer has the privilege of learning to steward His Word/presence well." -Bill Johnson, Bethel Church, Redding, CA, Author of Open Heavens and Born for Significance

With the rise of Pentecostalism in the early twentieth century and growth in the charismatic movement since, a resurgence of interest in the Holy Spirit and Christian spirituality in both theology and the church’s life has become evident. Along with increased interest in the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, there are criticisms of the treatment of the doctrine in church history for having neglected the Holy Spirit in both theology and the church’s life. Critical studies of the treatments of the doctrine of the Holy Spirit in church history have been laboriously conducted. However, there have not been many studies on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit in Reformed orthodoxy, particularly in its confessional standards. Recognizing the gap in the history of scholarship, this work explores and provides a systematic account of the person and some aspects of the work of the Holy Spirit as presented in the major Reformed confessions and catechisms of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Attention is particularly given to those aspects of the work of the Holy Spirit that have not been greatly explored but are pertinent to contemporary discussions.

Contemporary Interpretation Of Islamic Law written by Ahmed Affi and has been published by Troubador Publishing Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with Law categories.

This book does not champion some of the popular misconceptions surrounding Islamic law. It does not advocate stoning to death; amputating the hands of thieves; call for the death penalty for those who leave the fold of Islam; or urge Muslims to save their souls from Hellfire by shunning bank loans for fear of incurring interest. What it does advocate is less sensationalistic, but it is in line with the real interpretation of Islamic law.Contemporary Interpretation of Islamic Law is divided into thirteen chapters. The majority of the chapters concentrate on criminal aspects of Islamic law, while the remainder concern themselves with social issues. Each chapter – where possible – provides background information of the topic under discussion and then proceeds to analyse, examine and critique the contentious parts of the topic, looking at the arguments from all sides and the evidence put forward by each side before arriving at a conclusion. The book is accompanied by a glossary. “Our work differs from other published titles on Islamic law as it takes into account the different aspects of the Qur’an. The Qur’an employs many parables, allegories and metaphors to highlight important messages for Mankind, yet jurists often make the common mistake of either omitting or misinterpreting these devices, resulting in inaccurate and often unlawful rulings which have direct and indirect effects on both Muslims and non-Muslims alike. It is hoped that our work will create a better understanding of the correct interpretation of the Qur’an and Islamic law,” says authors Ahmed Affi and Hassan Affi. Contemporary Interpretation of Islamic Law will appeal to those with an interest is Islam and Islamic law, though no specialist knowledge of Arabic or Islamic law is required.
