Contemporary Trends in Conflict and Communication: Technology and Social Media examines the myriad ways conflict communication occurs in mediated spaces, whether through social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, on private social enterprise spaces, or through formal online dispute resolution (ODR) technologies. We were experiencing the increase of conflict communication in hybrid spaces prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, yet the global lockdown that shifted everyone to remote teaching, learning, and working heightened our attention to the impact of technology and social media on conflict dynamics. While social media is often implicated in the spread of alternative facts, false news, and intimidation, technology and new media also have the capacity to enhance and transform conflict communication in education, workplace, and socio-political settings. The contributors to this volume showcase cutting-edge research that helps us make sense of the times we are living in and is organized in three sections: (1) Using technology to promote dialogue and collaboration, (2) Conflict communication on social media, (3) Online conflict management in education, training, and practice. This collection is relevant to scholars of conflict studies as it highlights key trends and areas for future research to improve conflict communication, dialogue, and collaboration and proposes ideas for using technology and social media to transform and connect rather than polarize and divide.

Sexual Conflict written by Göran Arnqvist and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-28 with Science categories.
The past decade has seen a profound change in the scientific understanding of reproduction. The traditional view of reproduction as a joint venture undertaken by two individuals, aimed at replicating their common genome, is being challenged by a growing body of evidence showing that the evolutionary interests of interacting males and females diverge. This book demonstrates that, despite a shared genome, conflicts between interacting males and females are ubiquitous, and that selection in the two sexes is continuously pulling this genome in opposite directions. These conflicts drive the evolution of a great variety of those traits that distinguish the sexes and also contribute to the diversification of lineages. Göran Arnqvist and Locke Rowe present an array of evidence for sexual conflict throughout nature, and they set these conflicts into the well-established theoretical framework of sexual selection. The recognition of conflict between the sexes is transforming our theories for the evolution of mating systems and the sexes themselves. Written by two top researchers in the field, Sexual Conflict is the first book to describe this transformation. It is a must read for all scholars and students interested in the evolutionary biology of reproduction.

Rules In Database Systems written by Norman W. Paton and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.
This book is the proceedings of a workshop held at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh in August 1993. The central theme of the workshop was rules in database systems, and the papers presented covered a range of different aspects of database rule systems. These aspects are reflected in the sessions of the workshop, which are the same as the sections in this proceedings: Active Databases Architectures Incorporating Temporal Rules Rules and Transactions Analysis and Debugging of Active Rules Integrating Graphs/Objects with Deduction Integrating Deductive and Active Rules Integrity Constraints Deductive Databases The incorporation of rules into database systems is an important area of research, as it is a major component in the integration of behavioural information with the structural data with which commercial databases have traditionally been associated. This integration of the behavioural aspects of an application with the data to which it applies in database systems leads to more straightforward application development and more efficient processing of data. Many novel applications seem to need database systems in which structural and behavioural information are fully integrated. Rules are only one means of expressing behavioural information, but it is clear that different types of rule can be used to capture directly different properties of an application which are cumbersome to support using conventional database architectures. In recent years there has been a surge of research activity focusing upon active database systems, and this volume opens with a collection of papers devoted specifically to this topic.
