In Consciousness and the Existence of God , JP Morelandargues that the existence of finite, irreducible consciousness (or its regular, law-like correlation with physical states) provides evidence for the existence of God. Considering Searle's contingent correlation, O'Connor's emergent necessitation, and Nagel's mysterian "naturalism," Moreland concludes that these versions of naturalism should be rejected in favor of what he calls"the Argument from Consciousness."

In Consciousness and the Existence of God, J.P. Moreland argues that the existence of finite, irreducible consciousness (or its regular, law-like correlation with physical states) provides evidence for the existence of God. Moreover, he analyzes and criticizes the top representative of rival approaches to explaining the origin of consciousness, including John Searle’s contingent correlation, Timothy O’Connor’s emergent necessitation, Colin McGinn’s mysterian ‘‘naturalism,’’ David Skrbina’s panpsychism and Philip Clayton’s pluralistic emergentist monism. Moreland concludes that these approaches should be rejected in favor of what he calls ‘‘the Argument from Consciousness.’’

Consciousness And The Mind Of God written by Charles Taliaferro and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994-08-25 with Philosophy categories.

This work addresses the challenge of contemporary materialism for thinking about God. The book examines contemporary theories of consciousness and defends a non-materialist theory of persons, subjectivity and God. A version of dualism is articulated that seeks to avoid the fragmented outlook of most dualist theories. Dualism is often considered to be inadequate both philosophically and ethically, and is seen as a chief cause of denigrating the body and of promoting individualism and scepticism. Charles Taliaferro defends a holistic understanding of the person-body relationship in which the two are distinguishable yet integrally related. This integrated dualism is spelled out in a way that avoids the ethical and philosophical problems associated with other dualistic accounts, especially in its Platonic and Cartesian forms. A defence is then made of the intelligibility of thinking about God as non-physical, yet integrally present to creation. Charles Taliaferro is co-editor of the forthcoming A Companion to Philosophy of Religion, with Philip Quinn. He has had work published in, among others, The Philosophical Quarterly, Metaphilosophy, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, and Philosophia.

An Examination of Conscience of the Understanding: Empirical Proof of the Existence of God by Richard L. Scott Seeking his own utmost depth of comprehensive understanding, the author sets out to prove empirically that God exists. The seed of proof is the Birth Paradox, its florescence a faith grounded in his spirituality disposed soul: As empirically real as his conscious self, as mathematically certain as the probability laws of genetic science, as necessary as that the universe requires a creator for its rational possibility, as immanently intuitive as the Divine Allegory he mirrors. The Birth Paradox is the contingency of personal conscious existence on the body. Is there any scientific or commonsense belief as certain of itself? And yet, as a practical proposition, it is an utterly impossible conjunction! Personal consciousness is necessary specific to its own experience, a subtly profound tautology! How is it, then, that one’s necessary being can be dependent on a chance body?

Consciousness, As Revealing the Existence of God, Man, and Nature offers an engaging discussion on virtue and the presence of God in everyday life. In addition to the meaty topic of God, the book also tackles psychological concepts like the "ego" and consciousness in the hopes of establishing a concept of "self" in relation to religion. This book proves to be interesting, entertaining, and thought-provoking for anyone interested in religion, Christianity, or psychology. As humans, it's natural to experience the existential quandaries around the essence of human existence, how to prove our existence and what kind of stock we can put in the proof offered by religious, psychological and philosophical experts. This book attempts to answer those questions, making a compelling argument for consciousness itself as proof of existence, using the presence of God in nature as evidence to support the theory. This book passionately presents tightly constructed philosophical and religious argument backed with impressive evidence presented by the author to convince the reader of these ideas. For people who have been searching for meaning in their life beyond the day-to-day tedium, this book may provide some serious answers to their deepest questions and concerns. Consciousness, As Revealing the Existence of God, Man, and Nature provides a lively discussion about what it means to be human and how God is present not only in our lives but in all aspects of nature. With an excellent response to man's natural existential query, the author presents a compelling argument meant to convince even the heartiest skeptic. This is also a great book for individuals who enjoy reading books on religion and psychology. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. What meanings can be ascribed to the existence of God? This question has been investigated by prominent thinkers throughout the ages, and led several of them to suggest arguments for proving this existence and explaining its meaning. The first part of this book reviews some of these proofs and their criticism. Following this discussion, it suggests a new meaning and characterization of God as a connector between different types of entities. This idea sheds new light on several interesting problems, including the emergence of plurality in reality from the unity of God. The second section deals with God and the human mind, and focuses mainly on the mind-body bifurcation problem, the problem of free will, and the existence of consciousness and soul. The third part discusses several problems associated with God and the world. Special emphasis is laid here upon God and the laws of nature, the creation of the universe, and the impact of modern Physics on the belief in God’s existence.

God And Phenomenal Consciousness written by Yujin Nagasawa and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10-04 with Philosophy categories.

In God and Phenomenal Consciousness, Yujin Nagasawa bridges debates in two distinct areas of philosophy: the philosophy of mind and the philosophy of religion. He proposes novel objections to Thomas Nagel's and Frank Jackson's well-known 'knowledge arguments' against the physicalist approach to phenomenal consciousness by utilizing his own objections to arguments against the existence of God. From the failure of these arguments, Nagasawa derives a unique metaphysical thesis, 'nontheoretical physicalism,' according to which although this world is entirely physical, there are physical facts that cannot be captured even by complete theories of the physical sciences.

‘How the consciousness comes into existence?’ is the second top unanswered mystery in science. The top unanswered mystery is ‘what is the universe made of?’ Physicalism or materialism finds itself quite inadequate to explain mental qualities and free will in terms of excitation of neurons and their modular connections. Untangling the mystery of consciousness has been esteemed as the proudest achievement of humankind. Consciousness is left as the last frontier in science whose explanation may perhaps require the conceptualisation of soul and god; otherwise, any divine soul or god is denied in existence, as it does not fit into the known science. This book explains consciousness by conceiving a scientific soul that leads to a plausible explanation for all aspects of consciousness and also leads to God. This book describes and explains consciousness comprehensively. Its offshoot also leads us a possible explanation for near-death-experiences, the origin of life and parapsychology. This book will lead you to know your thyself. It will awaken your spirit of inquiry for such questions as ‘who am I’ and ‘who is God’ while providing some answers also.
