The conservation equations for simulating hypersonic flows in thermal and chemical nonequilibrium and details of the associated physical models are presented. These details include the curve fits used for defining thermodynamic properties of the 11 species air model, curve fits for collision cross sections, expressions for transport properties, the chemical kinetics models, and the vibrational and electronic energy relaxation models. The expressions are formulated in the context of either a two or three temperature model. Greater emphasis is placed on the two temperature model in which it is assumed that the translational and rotational energy models are in equilibrium at the translational temperature, T, and the vibrational, electronic, and electron translational energy modes are in equilibrium at the vibrational temperature, T sub v. The eigenvalues and eigenvectors associated with the Jacobian of the flux vector are also presented in order to accommodate the upwind based numerical solutions of the complete equation set. Molecular Physics and Hypersonic Flows bridges the gap between the fluid dynamics and molecular physics communities, emphasizing the role played by elementary processes in hypersonic flows. In particular, the work is primarily dedicated to filling the gap between microscopic and macroscopic treatments of the source terms to be inserted in the fluid dynamics codes. The first part of the book describes the molecular dynamics of elementary processes both in the gas phase and in the interaction with surfaces by using quantum mechanical and phenomenological approaches. A second group of contributions describes thermodynamics and transport properties of air components, with special attention to the transport of internal energy. A series of papers is devoted to the experimental and theoretical study of the flow of partially ionized gases. Subsequent contributions treat modern computational techniques for 3-D hypersonic flow. Non-equilibrium vibrational kinetics are then described, together with the coupling of vibration-dissociation processes as they affect hypersonic flows. Special emphasis is given to the interfacing of non-equilibrium models with computational fluid dynamics methods. Finally, the last part of the book deals with the application of direct Monte Carlo methods in describing rarefied flows.

This book is a compilation of peer-reviewed papers from the 2018 Asia-Pacific International Symposium on Aerospace Technology (APISAT 2018). The symposium is a common endeavour between the four national aerospace societies in China, Australia, Korea and Japan, namely, the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (CSAA), Royal Aeronautical Society Australian Division (RAeS Australian Division), the Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (KSAS) and the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (JSASS). APISAT is an annual event initiated in 2009 to provide an opportunity for researchers and engineers from Asia-Pacific countries to discuss current and future advanced topics in aeronautical and space engineering.

Non Equilibrium Air Plasmas At Atmospheric Pressure written by K.H. Becker and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-11-29 with Science categories.

Atmospheric-pressure plasmas continue to attract considerable research interest due to their diverse applications, including high power lasers, opening switches, novel plasma processing applications and sputtering, EM absorbers and reflectors, remediation of gaseous pollutants, excimer lamps, and other noncoherent light sources. Atmospheric-pressure plasmas in air are of particular importance as they can be generated and maintained without vacuum enclosure and without any additional feed gases. Non-Equilibrium Air Plasmas at Atmospheric Pressure reviews recent advances and applications in the generation and maintenance of atmospheric-pressure plasmas. With contributions from leading international researchers, the coverage includes advances in atmospheric-pressure plasma source development, diagnostics and characterization, air plasma chemistry, modeling and computational techniques, and an assessment of the status and prospects of atmospheric-pressure air plasma applications. The extensive application sections make this book attractive for practitioners in many fields where technologies based on atmospheric-pressure air plasmas are emerging.

The Hierarchy Of Fluid Dynamic Equations written by Claus Weiland and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-29 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book is devoted to the most general governing equations of the fluid mechanics, namely the Navier-Stokes equations and their derivatives. These equations are presented in various manners: for several coordinate systems, for laminar and turbulent flows, for different thermodynamic states of gases, in dimensional and non-dimensional forms, and in an incompressible situation. All that is valid also for the different versions of the Navier-Stokes equations, where appropriate. The only way to solve the fluid dynamic equations for complex three-dimensional problems consists in the use of numerical integration methods. To deal with this request it is very helpful to formulate the complete set of governing equations in vector or vector-matrix form. This is true also for two equations turbulence models as well as for the description of non-equilibrium effects of thermodynamics. These requirements are fully addressed in this book. Graduate and doctoral students, who are concerned with the numerical solutions of the fluid dynamic equations for specific problems, may find in this book the suggestions regarding the degree of approximation which could be adequate for the task they consider. Further, persons who are interested in the evolution of the mathematical description of fluid dynamic issues, both from the scientific and also the historical side, may discover suggestions, advices and motivations in this book.
