This book is a collection of my favorite essays about money-related topics. It will give you a new perspective on profit and prosperity. Perhaps it will encourage you to work harder and make more money. Or maybe it will do the opposite. Either way, the book reflects my experiences in the consulting world and is the first book in my “Beyond Success” series, providing information about different facets of success and money. However, the book is about more than money. It covers productivity, organizational waste, customer relationships, staff motivation, and more, and how all these elements combine in making money. This book may not change your life, but it will make you think about money in ways you probably never thought of before. If you’re a business owner, this book of ideas that never grow old will help you think about ways to revitalize your business for more profit. If you’re not a business owner, this book will help you consider how and where you spend your money and whether your spending should change. Considerations in Making Money provides insights that can help you create an extraordinary approach to money. “High praise for Mary’s first book. Her writing is clear, direct, and informative, with just the right touch of playfulness to make even the hardened reader smile. You’ll find topics here that you may not have ever considered concerning money.” — Dr. Marina Uzelac, Chiropractor, Wholistic Chiropractic & Wellness

Is success pattern-based? Is the journey of successfully building new banks or services (either from scratch or in the context of a going concern) predictable enough to be repeatable? And if there are patterns, are they within our gift to replicate? Beyond Resilience: Patterns of Success in Fintech and Digital Transformation asks these questions and seeks answers among the people who have first-hand experience of building new things and who live to tell the tale. This book is not a hagiographic founder story that elevates the founder’s own narrative to a montage of challenge and resilience, grit, perseverance and a soaring successful crowning at the end: a narrative that, figuratively speaking, can play out while ‘Eye of the Tiger’ is blaring in the background. Nor is the book a series of vendor testimonials that cover in a few thousand words each their own triumphant digital projects. These stories are not untrue but can be too generic to be illuminating, too vague to be helpful and too hollow to be the whole truth. Filled with interviews from leading fintech entrepreneurs, this book strives to tell the whole truth about building new things. It shares the stories of leaders who admit that as they built their businesses, they learned a lot, changed a lot, and made mistakes and had to course-correct. The book attests that leading new fintech ventures or digital transformations, whether they are started with a blank sheet of paper or within an established entity, is hard and unpredictable. It requires control. It requires consistency and integrity. It requires standing strong either alone or with a team. It requires going beyond resilience.

Building on a solid theoretical underpinning, this book provides a rigorous grounding in the subject of brand management. The theory is applied to examples throughout, to enable students to understand the practical application. Strategic Brand Management approaches the subject of brand management from a unique socio-cultural perspective, providing students with an understanding of the dynamics of the subject and enabling them to engage with the issues that lie within. While adopting this innovative framework, the book also integrates more traditional notions of the brand in terms of equity and positioning within that framework. The framework for the book separates a brand's concept into functional and emotional parts, looking at purchases that fulfil a functional need and how these develop into emotional decision-making processes. The language of the book is kept simple without compromising the effectiveness of the argument for diluting the analyses. The book has been written to meet the requirements to the syllabus of B.Com, BBA, M. Com and MBA courses of various Universities.

Teaching Difficult Topics written by Olivia R. Lucas and has been published by University of Michigan Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-10-14 with Music categories.
Teaching Difficult Topics provides a series of on-the-ground reflections from college music instructors working in a wide variety of institutional settings about their approaches to inclusive, supportive pedagogy in the music classroom. Although some imagine the music classroom to be an apolitical space, instructors find themselves increasingly in need of resources for incorporating issues of race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and historical trauma into their classrooms in ways that support student learning and safeguard their classroom communities. The teaching reflections in Teaching Difficult Topics examine difficult themes that fall into three primary categories: subjects that instructors sense to be controversial or emotionally challenging to discuss, those that derive from or intersect with real-world events that are difficult to process, and bigger-picture discussions of how music studies often focuses on dominant narratives while overlooking other perspectives. Some chapters offer practical guidance, lesson plans, and teaching materials to enable instructors to build discussions of race, gender, sexuality, and traumatic histories into their own classrooms; others take a more global view, reflecting on the importance and relevance of teaching these difficult topics and on how to respond in the music classroom when external events disrupt daily life.

Telehomecare systems have been in existence, in one form or another, for at least a decade. At the outset, the concept seemed to promise both a solution to controlling rising health care costs and a means of delivering the improved care which would enable the elderly to stay in their own homes for longer; but although it received enthusiastic support from governments and care professionals, as well as the commercial sector, adoption within a given community has not yet been achieved, and overall success has been limited at best. This book addresses the question of why, despite the investment of so much time, money and effort, Telehomecare is not more widely used than it is. The author describes his 20 years of experience in the field as a journey which started with a concern over his mother's health, and ended with himself and a colleague selling a series of patents to General Electric. Drawing on his experiences as an inventor, entrepreneur, businessman, implementer and researcher, he conducts a frank and thorough consideration of what has gone wrong, and offers an unflinching set of suggestions as to how to make it right. Telehomecare must become more than just a passive emergency response system if it is to have any chance of achieving its full potential. The analysis offered by this book will be of interest to all those whose work involves the development or implementation of Telehomecare systems.
