Context And Semantics For Knowledge Management written by Paul Warren and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-09-15 with Computers categories.

Knowledge and information are among the biggest assets of enterprises and organizations. However, efficiently managing, maintaining, accessing, and reusing this intangible treasure is difficult. Information overload makes it difficult to focus on the information that really matters; the fact that much corporate knowledge only resides in employees’ heads seriously hampers reuse. The work described in this book is motivated by the need to increase the productivity of knowledge work. Based on results from the EU-funded ACTIVE project and complemented by recent related results from other researchers, the application of three approaches is presented: the synergy of Web 2.0 and semantic technology; context-based information delivery; and the use of technology to support informal user processes. The contributions are organized in five parts. Part I comprises a general introduction and a description of the opportunities and challenges faced by organizations in exploiting Web 2.0 capabilities. Part II looks at the technologies, and also some methodologies, developed in ACTIVE. Part III describes how these technologies have been evaluated in three case studies within the project. Part IV starts with a chapter describing the principal market trends for knowledge management solutions, and then includes a number of chapters describing work complementary to ACTIVE. Finally, Part V draws conclusions and indicates further areas for research. Overall, this book mainly aims at researchers in academia and industry looking for a state-of-the-art overview of the use of semantic and Web 2.0 technologies for knowledge management and personal productivity. Practitioners in industry will also benefit, in particular from the case studies which highlight cutting-edge applications in these fields.

This is the third entry in an ambitious, highly regarded KM book series edited by T. Kanti Srikantaiah and Michael E. D. Koenig. Where Knowledge Management for the Information Professional (2000) offered information professionals an introduction to KM and Knowledge Management Lessons Learned (2004) assessed KM applications and innovations, Knowledge Management in Practice looks at how KM can be and is being implemented in organizations today. Featuring the contributions of more than 20 experts in the field, the book is unique in surveying the efforts of KM specialists to extend knowledge beyond their organizations and in providing a framework for understanding user context. The result is a must-read for any professional seeking to connect organizational KM systems with increasingly diverse and geographically dispersed user communities.

The book consists of 31 chapters in which the authors deal with multiple aspects of modeling, utilization and implementation of semantic methods for knowledge management and communication in the context of human centered computing. It is assumed that the modern human centered computing requires the intensive application of these methods as well as effective integration with multiple techniques of computational collective intelligence. The book is organized in four parts devoted to the presentation of utilization of knowledge processing in agent and multiagent systems, application of computational collective intelligence to knowledge management, models for collectives of intelligent agents, and models and environments tailored directly to human-centered computing. All chapters in the book discuss theoretical and practical issues related to various models and aspects of computational techniques for semantic methods, which are currently studied and developed in many academic and industry centers over the world. The editors hope that the book can be useful for graduate and PhD students of computer science, as well as for mature academics, researchers and practitioners interested in developing of modern methods for representation, processing and distribution of knowledge in the context of human centered computing and by means of computer based information systems. It is the hope of the editors that readers of this volume can find in all chosen chapters many inspiring ideas and influential practical examples, as well as use them in their current and future work.

Corporate Knowledge Discovery And Organizational Learning written by András Gábor and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-19 with Business & Economics categories.

This book investigates organizational learning from a variety of information processing perspectives. Continuous change and complexity in regulatory, social and economic environments are increasingly forcing organizations and their employees to acquire the necessary job-specific knowledge at the right time and in the right format. Though many regulatory documents are now available in digital form, their complexity and diversity make identifying the relevant elements for a particular context a challenging task. In such scenarios, business processes tend to be important sources of knowledge, containing rich but in many cases embedded, hidden knowledge. This book discusses the possible connection between business process models and corporate knowledge assets; knowledge extraction approaches based on organizational processes; developing and maintaining corporate knowledge bases; and semantic business process management and its relation to organizational learning approaches. The individual chapters reveal the different elements of a knowledge management solution designed to extract, organize and preserve the knowledge embedded in business processes so as to: enrich organizational knowledge bases in a systematic and controlled way, support employees in acquiring job role-specific knowledge, promote organizational learning, and steer human capital investment. All of these topics are analyzed on the basis of real-world cases from the domains of insurance, food safety, innovation, and funding.

The book highlights the opportunities provided by disruptive renewal, while also stressing the need for knowledge workers and organizations to transform governance, leadership and work organization. Emerging new business models and digitally enabled co-creation are presented as drivers that can help establish new ways of managing knowledge. In turn, a number of carefully selected and interpreted case studies provide a link to practice in organizations.
