Continental Transpressional And Transtensional Tectonics written by Robert E. Holdsworth and has been published by Geological Society of America this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998 with Science categories.
Many present-day and ancient continental deformation systems appear to have formed due to significantly oblique relative plate motions. Transpression and transtension zones are formed where the oblique motions involve components of compression and extensions, respectively. This book covers the recent advances in our understanding or transpressional and transtensional deformation zones both in theory and in real geological settings from around the world. The volume opens with an up-to-date overview of the topic that sets the scene for the more detailed papers which follow. The papers are grouped into four sections. The first, Modelling Transpression and Transtension, includes a series of papers that discuss theoretical strain models in the context of field examples and analogue experiments. The second section details the tectonic evolution of Continental Transform Zones and includes papers on the Dead Sea Transform, western USA and Chile. The third section, Oblique Divergence Zones, has papers on gravitational collapse in the Norwegian Caledonides and in SW North America, the break-up of Gondwana and a pull-apart basin in northern China. The final section on Oblique Convergence Zones, has case studies from Brazil, European Variscides, Antarctica, the Himalayas, the Sierra Nevada batholith and Italy.

In this reference for geologists, 20 contributions from international scientists discuss the analytical, physical, and numerical modeling of tectonic processes. A sampling of topics includes types of transpressional and transtensional deformation, modeling of anisotropic grain growth in minerals, salt tectonics and sedimentation along Atlantic margins, and new apparatus for thermomechanical analogue modeling. The text is accompanied throughout by b&w illustrations. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)

Brings together a series of papers which explore various aspects of the deformation of continental lithosphere, covering different tectonic settings from the Palaeozoic to the present day. These include terrane accretion and juxtaposition, the exhumation of high-pressure terrains, and mechanisms of crustal extension and rifting.

Deformation Mechanisms Rheology And Tectonics written by D. Gapais and has been published by Geological Society of London this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Science categories.
This book consists of 18 papers on deformation mechanisms, rheology and tectonics. The main approaches include experimental rock deformation, microstructural analysis, field structural studies, analogue and numerical modelling. New results on various topics are presented, ranging from brittle to ductile deformation and grain-scale to lithospherescale mechanisms. The volume contains review papers on several major current topics, such as the rheology of the lithospheric mantle and the mechanisms of exhumation of high-pressure tectonic units, as well as research papers on kinematic and mechanical analysis of rock deformation and related new techniques. Several contributions emphasize the increasing ability and wish of researchers to strengthen the links between small-scale physical mechanisms and large-scale tectonics. The volume will be of interest to academic and industrial researchers in the fields of structural geology, interactions between metamorphism, fluids and deformation, and large-scale tectonic processes.

The Nature And Tectonic Significance Of Fault Zone Weakening written by Robert E. Holdsworth and has been published by Geological Society of London this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Science categories.
Many faults appears to form persistent zones of weakness that fundamentally influence the distribution, arichitecture and movement patterns of crustal-scale deformation and associated processes in both continental and oceanic regions. They act as conduits for the focused migration of economically important fluids and also constitute one of the most important global geological hazards. This book brings together papers by an international group of Earth Scientists to discuss a broad range of topics centred upon the controls of fault weakening and the role of such faults during lithosphere deformation.
