This book provides overview of numerous control schemes for non-minimum phase and dead-time systems. The inverse response arises from the conflict of two first-order systems with opposite effects. This feature of the system is known as non-minim phase (NMP) process. The opposite response initiates from odd multiplicity of NMP open-loop zeros. As a result, the controller shows a limited gain margin and bandwidth, implying a robustness restriction. If the user tries to increase the gain, system sometimes gets unstable. Thus, the fundamental notion of providing a suitable balance control theory can potentially improve the performance of those processes. This book is useful to researchers working in the field of control system. The book provides comprehensive philosophy of different control schemes used for the non-minimum phase zeros and dead-time systems. The researcher working on non-minimum phase zeros can find innovative algorithms and novel schemes. Further, they can design innovative control schemes by referring to the content of chapters and specifically tuning after encountering NMP zeros and delay terms.

The advantage of model predictive control is that it can take systematic account of constraints, thereby allowing processes to operate at the limits of achievable performance. Engineers in academia, industry, and government from the US and Europe explain how the linear version can be adapted and applied to the nonlinear conditions that characterize the dynamics of most real manufacturing plants. They survey theoretical and practical trends, describe some specific theories and demonstrate their practical application, derive strategies that provide appropriate assurance of closed-loop stability, and discuss practical implementation. Control Of Flexible Link Manipulators Using Neural Networks written by H.A. Talebi and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-01-29 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Control of Flexible-link Manipulators Using Neural Networks addresses the difficulties that arise in controlling the end-point of a manipulator that has a significant amount of structural flexibility in its links. The non-minimum phase characteristic, coupling effects, nonlinearities, parameter variations and unmodeled dynamics in such a manipulator all contribute to these difficulties. Control strategies that ignore these uncertainties and nonlinearities generally fail to provide satisfactory closed-loop performance. This monograph develops and experimentally evaluates several intelligent (neural network based) control techniques to address the problem of controlling the end-point of flexible-link manipulators in the presence of all the aforementioned difficulties. To highlight the main issues, a very flexible-link manipulator whose hub exhibits a considerable amount of friction is considered for the experimental work. Four different neural network schemes are proposed and implemented on the experimental test-bed. The neural networks are trained and employed as online controllers.
