What Is Anthroposophic Medicine written by Michaela Glöckler and has been published by Rudolf Steiner Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-07 with Medical categories.

In this concise summary and introduction, Michaela Glöckler presents the therapeutic spectrum of anthroposophic medicine – its scientific basis, diagnostic methods and potential for practice. She gives numerous practical examples of its application and suggestions for treating patients at home. Anthroposophic medicine is an integrative system that combines scientific training and practice with a spiritual understanding of the human being. It seeks primarily to stimulate self-healing powers, directly supporting recovery processes and innate capacities of resistance. Anthroposophic physicians – registered general practitioners and specialists in all fields – utilize the knowledge and skills of conventional treatments as well as anthroposophic and homoeopathic medicines, external applications, and eurythmy, art and physical therapies. Michaela Glöckler describes the current status of anthroposophic medicine whilst raising awareness of the social dimension of illness and health to address issues of fate and destiny and to show what individuals can do for their own and other people’s health. She reflects on Rudolf Steiner’s call to ‘make the health system democratic’ and clarifies why scientific pluralism of methods and freedom of therapy are essential for the further development of the healthcare system and a modern understanding of disease.

What Covid 19 Can Teach Us written by Thomas Hardtmuth and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-06 with categories.

"The picture we have of viruses and their significance for human beings and nature has fundamentally changed in the last two decades but with hardly any of this more widely known although this Organism has occupied the headlines for many months. Viruses are the oldest, the most common and the most broadly distributed organic structures that evolution has ever created. Viruses basically are the most ancient building blocks of life; without this knowledge we will not be able to understand their role and the part they play in the course of illness." (T. Hardtmuth) With this backdrop, Dr. Thomas Hardtmuth tackles issues related to the current Corona pandemic. We need to thoroughly understand the significance of viruses, not just as causes of illnesses, but also as a medium, under the right conditions, for building and maintaining health and as a carrier and modifier of genetic information in the service of evolution. The more we view them merely as enemies to be fought, the more we consign and limit ourselves to battleground stations. As Dr. Hardtmuth writes, this is perhaps even truer of Covid-19. The latest research and understanding is leading to very different conclusions. For generations, we have been deeply influenced by the domination of pathogenic studies of viruses, whereas the most astonishing recent research shows viruses--in their mutability and in their ability to change our DNA--to be essential life forms for maintaining health and allowing human beings to adapt to new situations--indeed, to evolve. How does this apply to illnesses and a pandemic? The simplistic view that viruses attack us and make us ill is outdated. Their effects depend on the situation and the host organism--us. It is not a simple matter of cause and effect. This is just one aspect of Hardtmuth's discussion. This short book takes the discussion further, delving in detail into subjects such as the PCR tests and the so-called Ct (or amplification) values; the psychology of fear and power; the inner-outer relationship between human health and environmental health; and the effects of fear as well as other factors on the immune system. In addition, the author introduces the welcome subject of alternative therapies and the controversial subject surrounding the uses and risks of vaccination, both in general and more specifically with regard to the current Covid vaccines. On the latter he details the processes by which the different types of vaccines are produced and their various means of affecting human cells and immune systems. He also considers the significantly shortened testing processes for Covid vaccines, the potential risks, and the immunological responses in the organism through vaccines in comparison to responses arising naturally through actual infections. Most important, the author explores these issues from an open-minded and holistic perspective, presented in an accessible way for the general reader.

Medicinal Plants Of Central Asia Uzbekistan And Kyrgyzstan written by Sasha W. Eisenman and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-09-14 with Science categories.

This unique book is a collaborative effort between researchers at Rutgers University and colleagues from numerous institutions in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. It will be the first book to document more than 200 of the most important medicinal plants of Central Asia, many whose medicinal uses and activities are being described in English for the first time. The majority of the plants described grow wild in Central Asia with some being endemic, while other species have been introduced to Central Asia but are commonly used in regional plant based medicine. The book contains four introductory chapters. The first and second chapters cover the geography, climate and vegetation of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, respectively. The third chapter provides a brief history of medicinal plant use and science in Central Asia and the fourth chapter contains general information about phytochemistry. The fifth chapter comprises the bulk of the book and covers 208 medicinal plant species. Nearly all species have one or more high quality, color photographs. Three useful appendices have been included. The first is a glossary of botanical and ecological terms, the second is a glossary of chemistry terms and the third is a glossary of medical terms. During the preparation of this manuscript we found there to be a deficiency in quality reference resources for the translation of many of the technical terms associated with the different branches of science covered in this book. In order to make our job easier we compiled glossaries over the course of preparing the manuscript and have included them feeling that they will be an extremely valuable resource for readers.

Where Are We Now written by Giorgio Agamben and has been published by Rowman & Littlefield this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-30 with Philosophy categories.

Renowned Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben presents his fierce, passionate, and deeply personal commentaries regarding the 2020 health emergency as it played out in Italy and across the world. Alongside and beyond accusations, these texts reflect upon the great transformation affecting Western democracies. In the name of biosecurity and health, the model of bourgeois democracy—together with its rights, institutions, and constitutions—is surrendering everywhere to a new despotism where citizens accept unprecedented limitations to their freedoms. The push to accept this new normal leads to the urgency of the volume’s title: Where Are We Now? For how long will we accept living in a constantly extended state of exception, the end of which remains impossible to see?

A Short History Of Humanity written by Johannes Krause and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-08 with History categories.

Humanity has often found itself on the precipice. We've survived and thrived because we've never stopped moving... 'Stops you dead in your tracks ... An absolute revelation' Sue Black, bestselling author of All That Remains In this eye-opening book, Johannes Krause, Chair of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Humanity, offers a new way of understanding our past, present and future. Marshalling unique insights from archaeogenetics, an emerging new discipline that allows us to read our ancestors' DNA like journals chronicling personal stories of migration, Krause charts two millennia of adaption, movement and survival, culminating in the triumph of Homo Sapiens as we swept through Europe and beyond in successive waves of migration - developing everything from language, the patriarchy, disease, art and a love of pets as we did so. We also meet our ancestors, from those many of us have heard of - such as Homo Erectus and the Neanderthals - to the wildly unfamiliar but no less real: the recently discovered Denisovans, who ranged across Asia and, like humans, interbred with Neanderthals; the Aurignacians, skilled artists who, 40,000 years ago, brought about an extraordinary transformation in what our species could invent and create; the Varna, who buried their loved ones with gold long before the Pharaohs of Egypt did; and the Gravettians, big game hunters who were Europe's most successful early settlers until they perished in the face of the toughest opponent humanity had ever faced: the ice age. As well as being a radical new telling of our shared story, this book is a reminder that the global problems that keep us awake at night - climate catastrophe; the sudden emergence of deadly epidemics; refugee crises; ethnic conflict; over-population - are all things we've faced, and overcome, before.
