Corporate Bodies And Guilty Minds written by William S. Laufer and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-10-31 with Law categories.

We live in an era defined by corporate greed and malfeasance—one in which unprecedented accounting frauds and failures of compliance run rampant. In order to calm investor fears, revive perceptions of legitimacy in markets, and demonstrate the resolve of state and federal regulators, a host of reforms, high-profile investigations, and symbolic prosecutions have been conducted in response. But are they enough? In this timely work, William S. Laufer argues that even with recent legal reforms, corporate criminal law continues to be ineffective. As evidence, Laufer considers the failure of courts and legislatures to fashion liability rules that fairly attribute blame for organizations. He analyzes the games that corporations play to deflect criminal responsibility. And he also demonstrates how the exchange of cooperation for prosecutorial leniency and amnesty belies true law enforcement. But none of these factors, according to Laufer, trumps the fact that there is no single constituency or interest group that strongly and consistently advocates the importance and priority of corporate criminal liability. In the absence of a new standard of corporate liability, the power of regulators to keep corporate abuses in check will remain insufficient. A necessary corrective to our current climate of graft and greed, Corporate Bodies and Guilty Minds will be essential to policymakers and legal minds alike. “[This] timely work offers a dispassionate analysis of problems relating to corporate crime.”—Harvard Law Review

Corporate Bodies written by Mae K. Fortune and has been published by New Generation Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-12-01 with categories.

This is the first in the 'SIX SCENARIO' series: all, originally written by R Becket for film or television. They have been adapted by Mae K Fortune for the purposes of this publication. Set in the designer world of corporations and the not so designed world of the small business, these scenarios focus on individuals who find themselves the victims of extreme and hilarious circumstance. Each scenario has a central character desperately trying to survive in the turmoil. The book in its way underpins the meaning of life and death and business, without actually explaining a thing. This is above all else, contemporary and relevant humour. Ella Stick of the fashion world comments: 'Many story lines these days can be summed up as pants. But this book is laced with today's business ethic, with a view to stretching a profit margin with no scruples at all. Something hilariously prophetic lurks at the very gusset of these tales. The silver lining in them are delectably all recyclable, and at a stretch, I would really recommend it.'

Governments and regulatory bodies are realising that some corporate entities, ranging from corporations and trusts to foundations and partnerships, are often misused for money laundering, bribery and corruption, shielding assets from creditors, tax evasion, self-dealing, market fraud, and other illicit activities. This report looks at ways to combat the misuse of corporate entities. It shows that the types of corporate entities misused most frequently are those that provide the greatest degree of anonymity to their beneficial owners. With that in mind, it offers governments and other relevant authorities a menu of policy options for obtaining information on the beneficial ownership and control of corporate entities in order to combat their misuse for illicit purposes. This report was prepared by the OECD Steering Group on Corporate Governance and derestricted by the Council under the title Report on the Misuse of Corporate Vehicles for Illicit Purposes.

Corporate Communications written by Lars Thoeger Christensen and has been published by SAGE this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-02-28 with Business & Economics categories.

The field of corporate communications describes the practices organizations use to communicate as coherent corporate `bodies'. Drawing on the metaphor of the body and on a variety of theories and disciplines the text challenges the idealized notion that organizations can and should communicate as unified wholes. The authors pose important questions such as: - Where does the central idea of corporate communications come from? - What are the underlying assumptions of most corporate communications practices? - What are the organizational and ethical challenges of attempting truly `corporate' communication? Clearly written with international vignettes and executive briefings, this book shows that in a complex world the management of communication needs to embrace multiple opinions and voices. Rewarding readers with a deeper understanding of corporate communications, the text will be a `must read' for advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and scholars, in the arenas of corporate communications, organizational communication, employee relations, marketing, public relations and corporate identity management. Practitioners in these areas will be provoked to re-examine their assumptions and habits.
