Cosmology, the science of all that exists in the universe, is an interdisciplinary field that seeks to understand the fundamental nature of the universe, that is, how it evolved from its primordial stages, including the Big Bang, to its present state, and its potential future. This quest is driven by centuries of astronomical observations and advanced physical theories. The growing number of ground-based observatories, space-based satellites, and cutting-edge tools like the Hubble Space Telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope, and gravitational wave observatories allow us to look back to the very early stages of our expanding universe, offering unprecedented insights. This book addresses several important cosmological issues, including humanity’s enduring search for other advanced civilizations in the cosmos. It highlights the importance of such cosmic exploration and provides a comprehensive understanding of the concept of spacetime within the framework of general relativity. The book introduces a cosmological model that incorporates an evolving curvature term within the standard model of cosmology and presents arguments in favor of a rotating universe, exploring the associated mechanisms of how light and matter could escape from a Kerr black hole. In addition, it delves into modern efforts by cosmologists to uncover the actual shape of the universe—its topology—using the latest data. Finally, the book examines the critical role of quantum field theory in helping theorists build an increasingly robust picture of the cosmos. The editors hope that this scientifically rich and enlightening volume will engage readers and inspire further exploration into the mysteries of the universe.

A cultural philosopher and an astrophysicist attempt to decipher how we fit into the universe, and the impact our placement has on us. After a four-century rupture between science and the questions of value and meaning, this groundbreaking book presents an explosive and potentially life-altering idea: if the world could agree on a shared creation story based on modern cosmology and biology—a story that has just become available—it would redefine our relationship with Planet Earth and benefit all of humanity, now and into the distant future. Written in eloquent, accessible prose and illustrated in magnificent color throughout, including images from innovative simulations of the evolving universe, this book brings the new scientific picture of the universe to life. It interprets what our human place in the cosmos may mean for us and our descendants. It offers unique insights into the potential use of this newfound knowledge to find solutions to seemingly intractable global problems such as climate change and unsustainable growth. And it explains why we need to “think cosmically, act globally” if we're going to have a long-term, prosperous future on Earth. “Should be read by anyone, not just scientists, who worry about the human condition.”—Deepak Chopra, The Huffington Post “A prophetic book. Its message ranks right up there with those of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Joel. Like the prophets, it is at times poetic, demanding, grounded, soaring, empowering, and always awe-inspiring.”—Matthew Fox, Tikkun “The ideas and images are fascinating and certainly contribute to a sense of the profound stakes involved in what we’re doing to the planet and ourselves.”—William Kowinski, North Coast Journal

It is difficult to doubt that we suffer at present from the manifold aspects of an economic crisis which affects all walks of life. Well, men in almost every epoch in history have maintained that they were going through a crisis which was sup posed to be always more grave than any preceding critical phase. Very often those crises were not of an economic nature, but concerned either health, the political structure, the opportunity of acquiring knowledge, and so on. I think that we would consider today that some of those claims that were made in various historical epochs were often exaggerated if viewed from a historical point of view. However, it seems undeniable that we at present are in the middle of a universal economic crisis which has affected almost every facet of our daily life. And yet, the fact that despite these adverse conditions it is still possible to gather scholars from all corners of the world to deal with often sheer theo retical and sometimes abstract pursuits is a refutation of any facile pessimism it is reassuring to all who wonder where political and social events are taking us. Our salvation may well come from those acts of the mind so character istic of the pure scientist and scholar.

The present volume of Time and Science series is devoted to Physical Sciences and Cosmology. Today more than ever, the question 'is Time an ontological property, a necessary ingredient for the physical description of the world, or a purely epistemological element, relative to our situation in the world?' worry physicists and cosmologists alike. For many of them, Relativity (and particularly General Relativity), as well as its reconciliation with quantum mechanics in the elaboration of a quantum theory of gravitation, points to a negative answer to the first alternative, and leads them to deny the objective reality of time. For others, the answer is nuanced by the evidence of an emerging temporal property when one climbs the scales of the complexity of systems and/or the applicability of the statistical laws of thermodynamics. But for some, the illusion of the unreality of time comes from certain confusions that they denounce, and plead for the re-establishment of time at the heart of physical theories.

Cosmic Expansion Explained written by William Brown and has been published by Publifye AS this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-04 with Science categories.

Cosmic Expansion Explained explores the fascinating and fundamental concept of the expanding universe, a cornerstone of modern cosmology and physics. It delves into the Big Bang theory, the evidence supporting cosmic expansion, and the mysterious roles of dark energy and dark matter in accelerating this expansion. One intriguing fact is that the universe's expansion isn't slowing down as expected, but rather speeding up due to dark energy, which makes up a significant portion of the universe's total energy density. Another key insight is the cosmic microwave background (CMB), the afterglow of the Big Bang. The book eschews complex mathematical formulas in favor of conceptual clarity. It guides the reader through the historical development of cosmological models, from early philosophical ideas to our current scientific understanding. Beginning with the core concepts of the Big Bang and inflation, it progresses through observation methods, properties of dark matter and dark energy, and the influence of these factors on the universe's large-scale structure. The book emphasizes the observational and experimental underpinnings of cosmology, drawing on data from telescopes, space probes, and particle accelerators to provide a practical and accessible viewpoint on this captivating area of science.

Redefining Standard Model Cosmology written by Brian Albert Robson and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with Geophysics. Cosmic physics categories.

The current standard model of cosmology is based primarily on two incompatible theoretical models: (1) the standard model of particle physics, which describes the physics of the very small in terms of quantum mechanics, and (2) the general theory of relativity, which describes the physics of the very large in terms of classical physics. Both these theoretical models are considered to be incomplete in the sense that they do not provide any understanding of several empirical observations, such as the Big Bang, dark matter, dark energy, gravity, and matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. The main aim of this book is to discuss these serious problems that threaten to undermine the current standard model of cosmology.
