¿It¿s terrible, / getting what you want, / because that¿s when you know you¿ll always want / something different¿ confesses the speaker in Cradling Monsoons with a fabulously poignant bravado that keeps the reader tractor-beamed in thrall and enthralled within the light of these smart, funny, heartbreakingly gorgeous poems. Opening with a poem about a father who ¿cut down his family tree / to build a bridge from Kokomo to San Francisco that¿s still burning,¿ the speaker in Sarah McKinstry-Brown¿s poems conversely puts down roots and stays for the birth of a first child whose arrival sets the city of everything she knew before on fire. Curbing her own impulses for wanderlust and fire-starting, she instead stands squarely within the blaze that is motherhood and family¿that cycle of immolation, flame, ash, and rekindling¿in poems that gracefully shape shift between the different, conflicting identities contemporary women embody: daughter, lover, mother, artist. These poems make art from life, and reveal the making and living of life as an art of terrible power and tenderness. These poems are pure muscle, fierce heart.¿Lee Ann Roripaugh, Author of On the Cusp of a Dangerous YearThe poems in this stunning first collection are ¿accessible¿ in the best sense of that word, in the sense that Stephen Dunn¿s, Dorianne Laux¿s, and Ted Kooser¿s are. The subjects come mostly from everyday life¿Picture Day at school, a Folgers commercial, comfort food, December in Omaha, ¿the Tall, Blonde-haired, Blue-eyed, Smart, Talented Woman who Keeps Hitting on my Husband¿ ¿in which the poet discovers the extraordinary. The lines seem like intense conversation, but they are, at the same time, deeply engaging poetry that shows a mastery of sound and rhythm and a gift for creating fresh, radiant metaphors. I¿m reminded of how great dancers and acrobats must learn to move in a way that looks natural and effortless. Or, as Pope put it, ¿True ease in writing comes from art, not chance,/As those move easiest who have learned to dance.¿ Like our best poets, Sarah McKinstry Brown has learned.¿William Trowbridge, Author of Ship of FoolHeaven, the black keys on a grand piano! This collection pits tension between reality and desire, cultivating a world rich with lived imagination. In Sarah McKinstry-Brown¿s grasp, language tackles the world of marriage, pregnancies and family with a complex love capable of cradling frustrations and grief with a patience that can ride through any monsoons and still trust there will be air to breathe soon enough.¿Lisa Gill, Author of Mortar & Pestle and The RelentingBIO:Winner of the Academy of American Poets Prize, Sarah McKinstry-Brown studied poetry at the University of New Mexico, the University of Sheffield, England, and the University of Nebraska. In 2004, she won the Blue Light Poetry Prize for her collection When You Are Born and has since been published everywhere from West Virginia¿s

Nebraska Book Award, Special Poetry recognition More in Time is a celebration and tribute to Ted Kooser, two-time U.S. Poet Laureate, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, and Presidential Professor of the University of Nebraska. Through personal reflections, essays, and creative works both inspired by and dedicated to Kooser, this collection shines a light on the many ways the midwestern poet has affected others as a teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend, as well as a fellow writer and observer-of-the-world. The creative responses included in this volume are reflective of the impact Kooser has had in his connections to other writers, while also revealing glimpses of his distinct way of seeing.

POPULAR SCIENCE. Humans are rather weak when compared with many other animals. We are not particular fast and have no natural weapons. Yet Homo sapiens currently number nearly 7.5 billion and are set to rise to nearly 10 billion by the middle of this century. We have influenced almost every part of the Earth system and as a consequence are changing the global environmental and evolutionary trajectory of the Earth. So how did we become the worlds apex predator and take over the planet? Fundamental to our success is our intelligence, not only individually but more importantly collectively. But why did evolution favour the brainy ape? Given the calorific cost of running our large brains, not to mention the difficulties posed for childbirth, this bizarre adaptation must have given our ancestors a considerable advantage.

~2018 American Fiction Awards Cross-Genre Finalist~ Multi-award-winning author Linda Lee Greene weaves a tale that brims with unimaginable twists and turns in a long-term marriage. “Enthralling” journeys into the human psyche, romantic love, archaeology, and American Indian history carry the reader into archaeologist Lily Light’s quest to come to terms with the catastrophic consequences of her husband’s infidelity. The trauma throws Lily into “amazing” episodes of past-life regression in which she takes on the persona of a young maiden named White Flower, a tribal member of the long-ago builders of Ohio’s Great Serpent Mound. White Flower’s life of thousands of years before reveals to Lily the unexpected path to her own salvation. Given 5 Stars by Readers Favorite, CRADLE OF THE SERPENT brims with “enthralling” journeys into the human psyche, romantic love, archaeology, American Indian history, spinal cord injury, its consequences, and its contemporary treatments, as well as “amazing” sequences of past-life regression, and unimaginable twists and turns in a long-term marriage. 5 STARS FROM READERS’ FAVORITE Author’s Social Sites BOOK REVIEW Reviewed by Sefina Hawke for Readers' Favorite Cradle of the Serpent (A Man and a Woman's Imperfect Love) by Linda Lee Greene is a fictional drama with a theme of dream/time travel and archaeology. This is a book that would appeal most to an audience of young adults and adults who enjoy drama romance novels that are not erotic. Lily Light is an archaeologist who works at the Great Serpent Mound in Ohio. Her work opened her to experiences, knowledge, and beliefs she never knew existed. Psychotherapist Michael Neeson is Lily’s therapist and guide in her dream travels where she becomes a woman known as White Flower. Lily’s life path takes her to heights she never knew existed in her dream travels, yet she also experiences hurt when she discovers her husband’s infidelity. Cradle of the Serpent (A Man and a Woman's Imperfect Love) by Linda Lee Greene is a book with a slower pace, yet the leisurely pace only added to the story instead of detracting from it. I enjoyed the way that Lily Light develops as a character during the course of the book as her husband’s shooting, his paralyzed state, and the discovery of his mistress leave her reeling. The way that she not only recovers, but also throws herself into her dream states that allow her to embrace White Flower, was amazing. I loved the suspense in trying to discover if White Flower was a dream state or if Lily was time traveling. The additional perspective of Michael Neeson provided a nice balance to the story. I also particularly liked that the love scenes were written to be romantic instead of erotic.

East Asian Monsoon written by Chih-Pei Chang and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Nature categories.

The East Asian summer monsoon has complex space and time structures that are distinct from the South Asian summer monsoon. It covers both subtropics and midlatitudes and its rainfall tends to be concentrated in rain belts that stretch for many thousands of kilometers and affect China, Japan, Korea, and the surrounding areas. The circulation of the East Asian winter monsoon encompasses a large meridional domain with cold air outbreaks emanating from the Siberian high and penetrates deeply into the equatorial Maritime Continent region, where the center of maximum rainfall has long been recognized as a major planetary scale heat source that provides a significant amount of energy which drives the global circulation during boreal winter. The East Asian summer monsoon is also closely linked with the West Pacific summer monsoon. Both are part of the global climate system and are affected by El Nino?Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and surface temperature variations in the western Pacific and surrounding oceans, the tropospheric biennial oscillation, and the South Asian summer monsoon. In addition, typhoons in the western North Pacific are most active during the East Asian summer monsoon. They may be considered as a component of the East Asian summer monsoon as they contribute substantial amounts of rainfall and have major impacts on the region. Because of its impacts on nearly one-third of the worldOCOs population and on the global climate system (including effects on the climate change), the study of the East Asian monsoon has received increased attention both in East Asian countries and in the United States. This book presents reviews of recent research on the subject."
