"A.J. Benza's distinctive blend of wit, dry humor, and genuine tenderness shines through this candid, compelling memoir about the summer of 1974 when his shy, effeminate cousin comes to live with A.J.'s family, which is dominated by his short-tempered, outspoken, hyper-masculine father. At its core, A.J.'s story is about learning that "being exactly who you were meant to be is the only thing that matters""--

Vampires or the undead: mythical creatures who subsist by feeding on the life essence or blood of humans. Lycans or werewolves: creatures who have the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or wolf-human hybrid. The nameless ones: demons/deities composed of shapeshifting blobs and tentacles. They walk among us, malevolent creatures who have banded together to rid this world of humankind so they could take over. But not if Cruiser, a human-turned vampire; Allison, a battle-ready controller; and Julie, a brave human, can help it. These three will try everything in their power to thwart the evil—known only as “pale man”—that plans to take over a mortal and trigger the end of the world as we know it. Helping Cruiser, Allison, and Julie are tactical teams created by the Department of Homeland Security, teams composed of leaders, readers, mechs, controllers, and mages. But are they enough to defeat the forces of evil and save us all?

The Aesthetics And Ethics Of Faith written by Christopher D. Tirres and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-17 with Religion categories.

What is the future of liberation thought in the Americas? In this groundbreaking work, Christopher D. Tirres takes up this question by looking at the methodological connections between two quintessentially American traditions: liberation theology and pragmatism. He explains how pragmatism lends philosophical clarity and depth to some of liberation theology's core ideas and assumptions. Liberation theology in turn offers pragmatism a more nuanced and sympathetic approach to religious faith, especially its social and pedagogical dimensions. Ultimately, Tirres crafts a philosophical foundation that ensures the continued relevance of liberation thought in today's world. Keeping true to the method of pragmatism, the book begins inductively with a set of actual experiences-- the Good Friday liturgies at the San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Texas-- and provides a compelling description of the way these performative rituals integrate the aesthetic and ethical dimensions of faith. Subsequent chapters probe this integration deductively at three levels of theoretical analysis: experience/metaphysics, sociality, and pedagogy. As Tirres shows, the aesthetic and ethical dimensions of faith emerge in different yet related ways at all three levels. He argues that utilizing the categories of the aesthetic and ethical enables a richer understanding of the dynamic relationship between faith and politics. This book builds new bridges between a number of discourses and key figures, and will be of interest to all who are interested in the liberatory potential of engaged faith praxis, especially when it is expressed in the form of religious ritual.

Four Days With Kenny Tedford written by Paul Smith and has been published by Behler Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-26 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Kenny Tedford is one of only two deaf people in the world with a master’s degree in storytelling, which he earned at 55, almost half a century after being told by teachers and psychologists that he would never complete the third grade. Oxygen deprivation in utero resulted in Kenny being born deaf, partial blindness, partial paralysis on his left side, and an inability to speak clearly until the age of 10. Kenny also suffers cognitive impairment, similar to the fictional character Forrest Gump, which gives him the same child-like innocence and leads to the same sort of hilarious misunderstandings and malaprops that made Gump both lovable and entertaining. Kenny’s life could easily have been nothing but a depressingly sullen tale of victimhood. Instead, it turned out to be one filled with a unique combination of joy, humor, friendship, heartbreak, accomplishment, faith, and peace.
