As many parents know, decorating and furnishing a child's room can be both a pleasure and a problem: you have somehow to find a balance between practicality, playfulness, comfort, safety, originality, and making the most of the space available. Some of the world's best-known designers and design companies have risen to the challenge of creating furniture and accessories specifically for children. Rather than being merely scaled-down adult designs, the best designs for children should respond to their express needs: as well as being durable, safe, and easy to clean, they should nurture a child's development and encourage creativity and the use of imagination. This stylish book presents some 250 designs for children, both iconic pieces of furniture, furnishings, and toys and more recent creations based on the latest technological advances. From Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Aarnio and Nanna Ditzel through to Marcel Wanders and Javier Mariscal, and from Knoll and Artek to Alessi, MDF Italia, and Magis, the biggest names in design have produced beds, tables, chairs, storage, rugs, cutlery and playthings that can be used from children's earliest days through to the start of adolescence. With a fresh, appealing layout, the book is divided into three main sections - furniture, accessories, and toys - within which the designs are further arranged into such categories as cribs and cots, bookcases, mirrors, mobiles, and rocking horses. Throughout, concise descriptions are accompanied by colorful and lively illustrations. Whether you are a style-conscious parent seeking ideas for a functional yet fun nursery, bedroom, playroom or study, a design professional or simply a fan of contemporary design, this is an enchanting survey of excellent, clever, child-friendly design.

Children As Treasures written by Mark Jones and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-03-17 with History categories.

"Mark Jones examines the making of a new child’s world in Japan between 1890 and 1930 and focuses on the institutions, groups, and individuals that reshaped both the idea of childhood and the daily life of children. Family reformers, scientific child experts, magazine editors, well-educated mothers, and other prewar urban elites constructed a model of childhood—having one’s own room, devoting time to homework, reading children’s literature, playing with toys—that ultimately became the norm for young Japanese in subsequent decades. This book also places the story of modern childhood within a broader social context—the emergence of a middle class in early twentieth century Japan. The ideal of making the child into a “superior student” (yutosei) appealed to the family seeking upward mobility and to the nation-state that needed disciplined, educated workers able to further Japan’s capitalist and imperialist growth. This view of the middle class as a child-centered, educationally obsessed, socially aspiring stratum survived World War II and prospered into the years beyond."

Collaborative Therapy written by Harlene Anderson and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Psychology categories.

As the number of postmodern theoretical contributions to the literature of psychology has grown, so have postmodernism's appeals and recognitions of its relevance. Many of these writings suggest practical applications, yet there is a gap in the literature between theoretical explications and in-depth accounts of the many forms of everyday practice that flow from it. The proposed work will provide a means to bridge this gap. "Invitations" will be a practice and guide book that brings together a collection of applications, innovations, and expansions of postmodern collaborative therapy with an emphasis on clinical practice. A wide variety of professionals from diverse disciplines, contexts, and cultures will detail what they actually do in their therapy practices. The book will also demonstrate the extension and usefulness of a postmodern collaborative approach to the domains of education, research, and organizations. The text is divided into three sections. Each section provides descriptions of the application to a specific population, problem, or context. Section one provides the historical and theoretical background of collaborative therapy. Section two focuses on a variety of psychotherapeutic specialties including domestic violence, the elderly, chronic illness, eating disorders, and children. Section three offers examples of how postmodern perspective can be put into action
