EDGE: The Agile Operating Model That Will Help You Successfully Execute Your Digital Transformation “[The authors’] passion for technology allows them to recognize that for most enterprises in the 21st century, technology is THE business. This is what really separates the EDGE approach. It is a comprehensive operating model with technology at its core.” —From the Foreword by Heidi Musser, Executive Vice President and Principal Consultant, Leading Agile; retired, Vice President and CIO, USAA Maximum innovation happens at the edge of chaos: the messy, risky, and uncertain threshold between randomness and structure. Operating there is uncomfortable but it’s where organizations “invent the future.” EDGE is a set of fast, iterative, adaptive, lightweight, and value-driven tools to achieve digital transformation, and EDGE: Value-Driven Digital Transformation is your guide to using this operating model for innovation. Jim Highsmith is one of the world’s leading agile pioneers and a coauthor of the Agile Manifesto. He, Linda Luu, and David Robinson know from their vast in-the-trenches experience that sustainable digital transformation requires far more than adopting isolated agile practices or conventional portfolio management. This hard, indispensable work involves changing culture and mindset, and going beyond transforming the IT department. EDGE embraces an adaptive mindset in the face of market uncertainty, a visible, value-centered portfolio approach that encourages continual value linkages from vision to detailed initiatives, incremental funding that shifts as strategies evolve, collaborative decision-making, and better risk mitigation. This guide shows leaders how to use the breakthrough EDGE approach to go beyond incremental improvement in a world of exponential opportunities. Build an organization that adapts fast enough to thrive Clear away unnecessary governance processes, obsolete “command and control” leadership approaches, and slow budgeting/planning cycles Improve collaboration when major, fast-paced responses are necessary Continually optimize investment allocation and monitoring based on your vision and goals Register your product for convenient access to downloads, updates, and/or corrections as they become available. The Technology Edge written by Gerard K. O'Neill and has been published by Simon & Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1983 with Business & Economics categories.

Rejecting the "limits to growth" philosophy common to the 1970s, O'Neill points out that technological advances have historically created wealth for those societies with the foresight to develop them. He examines in detail six vast new markets that, if agggressively pursued, could sustain high levels of economic growth for the United States for many decades -- microengineering, robotic reproduction, genetic hardware, magnetic flight, private aircraft flight and space manufacturing. Suggests that to conquer these markets long-term corporate growth and not short-term profits must be stressed, the adversarial relationship between labor and management must be superseded by cooperation, and venture capital investment must be encouraged. The Nature of Technology will change the way you think about this fundamental subject forever. W. Brian Arthur's many years of thinking and writing about technology have culminated in a unique understanding of his subject. Here he examines the nature of technology itself: what is it and how does it evolve? Giving rare insights into the evolution of specific technologies and a new framework for thinking about others, every sentence points to some further truth and fascination. At a time when we are ever more reliant on technological solutions for the world's problems, it is extraordinary how little we actually understand the processes that lead to innovation and invention. Until now. This will be a landmark book that will define its subject, and inspire people to think about technology in depth for the very first time.

The rapid expansion of laborless production systems creates enormous instability. Money previously paid in wages is spent on technology. Workers lose jobs to robotic intelligence and, therefore, have no money to buy the goods produced by the technology. CUTTING EDGE provides an up-to-the-minute analysis of the complex relations between technology and work and how jobs and living standards can be protected.

Edge Computing written by Javid Taheri and has been published by IET this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-07-06 with Computers categories.

The book aims to focus only on the 'edge computing' paradigm - as opposed to other similar disciplines such as fog computing - due to its unique characteristics where heterogeneous devices can be equipped with decision-making processes and automation procedures to carry out applications (mostly) across widely geographically distributed areas. The book is sectioned into three parts (models, technologies and applications) to reflect complementary viewpoints and shed light onto various aspect of edge computing platforms. The first part (models) serves as an introductory section to differentiate edge computing from its fairly close/similar paradigms such as fog computing, multi-access edge computing and mobile cloud computing. It then highlights various theoretical models through which edge computing systems could be mathematically expressed and their relevant technological problems could be systematically solved or optimized. The second part (technologies) focuses on different technologies (virtualization, networking, orchestration, etc.) where edge computing systems could be realized. And finally, the third part (applications) focuses on various application domains (e.g., smart cities) where edge computing systems could, or already did, help in providing novel services beyond the reach of pure/typical cloud computing solutions.
