Mathematical science communication has, as the field of science communication in general, gained momentum over the last decades. It aims at informing the public about contemporary research, enhancing the factual and methodological knowledge, fostering a greater interest and support for the science of mathematics, and enabling the citizens to apply it to their practical life, as well as decision-making on a bigger level. These objectives are met by the various formats and media in which mathematical science communication is brought to the public. The first three sections of the book consist of best-practice examples from the areas of informal math education, museums and exhibitions, and the arts, respectively. The fourth and final section discusses the structural aspects of mathematical science communication and lays down the basics for its theoretical framework.

This book explains how to unlock unlimited personal creativity and to create a culture that supports emotional health, inventiveness, and success through a comprehensive examination of creative thinking that integrates theoretical, scientific, psychological, and sociological perspectives. How do we teach innovative thinking and stimulate creativity? Creative thinking is a highly desirable trait in today's world, where creativity lends the mental fitness and flexibility necessary to switch easily between patterns of thinking and contend with the constant changes that result from ongoing technological advancements. Yet research shows that the national level of creativity in both children and adults is declining. This book showcases methods that build "outside of the box" thinking skills that can empower people to succeed not only in school or work but in life in general, resulting in greater self-esteem, reduced stress, increased productivity, improved overall health, and more satisfaction in everyday life. Brainstorm! Practice for Unrestricted Imagination and Original Thought shows, with scientific proof, that the powerful engine of creativity has unlimited fuel and can power every sphere of life, from food preparation to personal relationships and from academia to government administration. It is a manual for leveraging creative thought in order to overcome barriers, solve difficult problems, and streamline and optimize day-to-day living. Educators, institutional leaders, and CEOs will discover how creativity-boosting courses and trainings can promote unprecedented performance and productivity among students and employees. Based on extensive research data and more than 100 interviews with experts worldwide, this accessible and engaging book presents vivid analogies and metaphors; insights from experts in various fields ranging from education to neurology, music, and technology; and fun exercises that make it clear that creativity is indispensable in every realm of life—and that anyone can take simple, effective steps to tap into their own creative potential.

Research On Mathematics Textbooks And Teachers Resources written by Lianghuo Fan and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02-13 with Education categories.

This book focuses on issues related to mathematics teaching and learning resources, including mathematics textbooks, teacher guides, student learning and assessment materials, and online resources. The book highlights various theoretical and methodological approaches used to study teaching and learning resources, and addresses the areas of resources, teachers, and students at an international level. As for the resources, the book examines the role textbooks and other curricular or learning resources play in mathematics teaching, learning, and assessment. It asks questions such as: Could we consider different types of textbooks and roles they play in teaching and learning? How does the digitalization of information and communication affect these roles? What are defining features of e-textbooks, and how could we characterize the differences between the traditional textbooks and e-textbooks? As for the teachers, the book discusses the relationships between teachers’ individual and collective resources, and the way in which we could model such relationships. Specific questions addressed are: What is the role of teachers in developing textbooks and other teaching and learning materials? What are the relationships between resource designers and users? What are the consequences of these changing roles and relationships for the teaching of mathematics, and for teacher knowledge and professional development? As for the students, the book explores how students, as well as their teachers, interact through resources. It raises and addresses questions such as: What are the effects of modern ICT (particularly internet) on students’ use and the design of resources? How do changing patterns of use and design affect student behaviour, learning, and relationships to the subject of mathematics?

The objective of this study is to examine different assessments of employers and students about job skills leading to differences defined as skill, employability, and perception gaps based on surveys of 100 industrial employers and 151 final year students from 6 universities and postgraduate colleges in the Gujrat-Sialkot-Gujranwala industrial cluster. Factor analysis grouped 24 specific skills into the three interpretable categories: communication and business specific skills, core employability skills, and professional skills. The results suggest gaps in all three respects for each of the skill categories. Employers were least satisfied with the professional skill s of new employees compared to their scores on the importance of these skills. Students also scored their own professional skills lower than the importance of these skills in the job market. Smaller but similar differences arise for the other skill categories.Students generally gave higher nominal scores to the importance of all skills than were given by employers. When disaggregated by discipline, students in more technical fields (engineering, computer science, and IT), which are supposed to possess high level of technical skills, claim a shortage of these skills, whereas students from economics, commerce and business administration indicated they were neither sound in professional skills nor the softer skills. Close coordination among all stakeholders through internship programs for students, development and timely revision of market oriented curricula, and special skill enhancement training programs are recommended steps to enhance productive youth employment in Pakistan.
