A multidisciplinary introduction to the field of computational creativity, analyzing the impact of advanced generative technologies on art and music. As algorithms get smarter, what role will computers play in the creation of music, art, and other cultural artifacts? Will they be able to create such things from the ground up, and will such creations be meaningful? In Beyond the Creative Species, Oliver Bown offers a multidisciplinary examination of computational creativity, analyzing the impact of advanced generative technologies on art and music. Drawing on a wide range of disciplines, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, design, social theory, the psychology of creativity, and creative practice research, Bown argues that to understand computational creativity, we must not only consider what computationally creative algorithms actually do, but also examine creative artistic activity itself.

Creativity In Later Life written by David Amigoni and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12-07 with Social Science categories.

This collection begins with two premises: that our understanding of the nature and forms of creativity in later life remains limited and that dialogue between specialists in gerontology, the arts and humanities can produce the crucial new insights that are so obviously needed. Representing the outcome of ongoing dialogue across the disciplinary divide, the contributions of this volume reflect anew on what we share and how we differ; creating new narratives so as to build an understanding of late-life creativity that goes far beyond the narrow confines of the pervasively received idea of ‘late style’. Creativity in Later Life encompasses a range of personal reflections and discussions of the boundaries of creativity, including: Canonical artistic achievements to community art projects Narratives of carers for those living with dementia Analyses of creative theory Through these insightful chapters, the authors consequently offer an understanding of creativity in later life as varied, socialised and - above all - located in the cultural and economic circumstances of the here and now. This title will appeal to academics, practitioners and students in the various gerontological, arts and humanities fields; and to anyone with an interest in the nature of creativity in later life and the forms it takes.

Regional Cultures Economies And Creativity written by Ariella Van Luyn and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-26 with Social Science categories.

Drawing on Australian and comparative case studies, this volume reconceptualises non-metropolitan creative economies through the ‘qualities of place’. This book examines the agricultural and gastronomic cultures surrounding ‘native’ foods, coastal sculpture festivals, universities and regional communities, wine in regional Australia and Canada, the creative systems of the Hunter Valley, musicians in ‘outback’ settings, Fab Labs as alternatives to clusters, cinema and the cultivation of ‘authentic’ landscapes, and tensions between the ‘representational’ and ‘non-representational’ in the cultural economies of the Blue Mountains. What emerges is a picture of rural and regional places as more than the ‘other’ of metropolitan creative cities. Place itself is shown to embody affordances, unique institutional structures and the invisible threads that ‘hold communities together’. If, in the wake of the publication of Florida’s Rise of the Creative Class, creative industries models tended to emphasize ‘big cities’ and the spatial-cum-cultural imaginaries of the ‘Global North’, recent research and policy discourses – especially, in the Australian context – have paid greater attention to ‘small cities’, rural and remote creativity. This collection will be of interest to scholars, students and practitioners in creative industries, urban and regional studies, sociology, geography and cultural planning.
