Aimed at final year undergraduate students, this is the first volume to publish in a new series of text covering core subjects in operational research in an accessible student-friendly format. This volume presents simulation paired with inventory control. The Operational Research Series aims to provide a new generation of European-originated texts of practical relevance to todays student. To guarantee accessibility, the texts are concise and have a non-mathematical orientation. These texts will provide students with the grounding in operational research theory they need to become the innovators of tomorrow. This is one of the first volumes in a new series of textbooks in operational research. The key objectives of the series are to provide concise introductions to the core topics in operational research focusing on the practical relevance of those topics to today's students and taking a non-mathematical orientation in favour of software applications. Each core subject will be paired with another core subject in order to provide maximum value for money for students.

Tavistock Press was established as a co-operative venture between the Tavistock Institute and Routledge & Kegan Paul (RKP) in the 1950s to produce a series of major contributions across the social sciences. This volume is part of a 2001 reissue of a selection of those important works which have since gone out of print, or are difficult to locate. Published by Routledge, 112 volumes in total are being brought together under the name The International Behavioural and Social Sciences Library: Classics from the Tavistock Press. Reproduced here in facsimile, this volume was originally published in 1968 and is available individually. The collection is also available in a number of themed mini-sets of between 5 and 13 volumes, or as a complete collection.

Master's Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Engineering - Industrial Engineering and Management, grade: Good, LMU Munich (Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar), course: Industrial Engg., language: English, abstract: Since the late 1940s, linear programming models have been used for many different purposes. Airline companies apply these models to optimize their use of planes and staff. NASA has been using them for many years to optimize their use of limited resources. Oil companies use them to optimize their refinery operations. Small and medium-sized businesses use linear programming to solve a huge variety of problems, often involving resource allocation. In my study, a typical product-mix problem in a manufacturing system producing two products (each product consists of two sub-assemblies) is solved for its optimal solution through the use of the latest versions of MATLAB having the command simlp, which is very much like linprog. As analysts, we try to find a good enough solution for the decision maker to make a final decision. Our attempt is to give the mathematical description of the product-mix optimization problem and bring the problem into a form ready to call MATLAB’s simlp command. The objective of this paper is to find the best product mix that maximizes profit. The graph obtained using MATLAB commands, give the shaded area enclosed by the constraints called the feasible region, which is the set of points satisfying all the constraints. To find the optimal solution we look at the lines of equal profit to find the corner of the feasible region which yield the highest profit. This corner can be found out at the farthest line of equal profit which still touches the feasible region. The most critical part is the sensitivity analysis using Excel Solver and Parametric Analysis using computer software which allows us to study the effect on optimal solution due to discrete and continuous change in parameters of the LP model including to identify bottlenecks. We have examined other options like product outsourcing, one-time cost, cross training of one operator, manufacturing of hypothetical third product on under-utilized machines and optimal sequencing of jobs on machines.

′The 4th edition of this extensive text is an outstanding resource prepared by nurses (and a librarian) for nurses. In a structured and helpful style it presents thousands of items from the literature - published papers, reports, books and electronic resources - as a clear, accessible, and most of all useful collection. The efforts to signpost and lead the reader to the sought-for information are effective and well-conceived, and the "How to use this book" section is remarkably simple...the book should be found in every nursing and health library, every research institute and centre, and close to many career researchers′ desks′ - RCN Research This latest edition of Resources for Nursing Research provides a comprehensive bibliography of sources on nursing research, and includes references for books, journal papers and Internet resources. Designed to act as a ′signpost′ to available literature in the area, this Fourth Edition covers the disciplines of nursing, health care and the social sciences. Entries are concise, informative and accessible, and are arranged under three main sections: · ′Sources of Literature′ covers the process of literature searching, including using libraries and other tools for accessing literature · ′Methods of Inquiry′ includes an introduction to research, how to conceptualize and design nursing and health research, measurement and data collection, and the interpretation and presentation of data · ′The Background to Research in Nursing′ encompasses the development of nursing research; the profession′s responsibilities; the role of government; funding; research roles and careers; and education for research. Fully revised and updated, the Fourth Edition includes just under 3000 entries, of which 90% are new. It has extensive coverage of US, UK literature and other international resources. This new edition will be an essential guide for all those with an interest in nursing research, including students, teachers, librarians, practitioners and researchers.

Discrete Mathematics And Game Theory written by Guillermo Owen and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Business & Economics categories.
This book describes highly applicable mathematics without using calculus or limits in general. The study agrees with the opinion that the traditional calculus/analysis is not necessarily the only proper grounding for academics who wish to apply mathematics. The choice of topics is based on a desire to present those facets of mathematics which will be useful to economists and social/behavioral scientists. The volume is divided into seven chapters. Chapter I presents a brief review of the solution of systems of linear equations by the use of matrices. Chapter III introduces the theory of probability. The rest of the book deals with new developments in mathematics such as linear and dynamic programming, the theory of networks and the theory of games. These developments are generally recognized as the most important field in the `new mathematics' and they also have specific applications in the management sciences.
