Critical Thinking Enablers (CTE) is a "sweet sixteen" course package (see Table of Contents) with very much needed critical thinking skills. In a future that will require better skills at sorting out facts from fiction, this work is very relevant and needed. Simply put, and to borrow a little from writer Ernest Hemingway as explained, this syllabus is a vehicle for forming your own, "built-in, shock proof crap detector."Begins with a challenge test of critical thinking teasers (i.e., surprise pictures) that show how unseeing human eyes can be. Making statements of appreciation about others in your group, are encouraged throughout the sessions, by introducing "sentence starters." "I liked it when . . . ." "I admire you for . . . ." Occasionally, I have had students respond with sincere remarks that makes teaching CTEs, very worth while: ¿ "Wow! I realize now how this course is all about getting your head together!" (Unnamed student)¿ "Thank you Robert, for telling me you benefited when I gave examples of primary sources that made sense to you. You made it meaningful for everyone, too."Special Issue Number 1 77 pages, 69 illustrations, Bibliography + Dictionary of Terms. Index finder's aid may be retrieved on the website. Retail $20.

This book is about the age range from eight years to fourteen years old. It takes the reader from the more inward seven-year-old, to the expansive eight-year-old, and then into the nine-eleven-thirteen-fifteenyear age range that alternates inward and outward, moody and expansive, in the young person. All through these ages, they are learning, and this manual has additional ideas for each age and stage, plus materials for teachers and group leaders. Too much information (TMI) is thrown at these ages about what it means to be a teenager or tweenager. Some handle this information overload and transition period by withdrawing and becoming crabby. However, regardless of social and emotional issues, their learning abilities are still sharp and keen and welcome the more ideas in these manual activities that are sequenced by age level. These enablers only take a few minutes at a time and can boost vocabulary and knowledge categories for young people, especially with the Around the World section.

This book has only one objective: to make you more successful in life. How? By teaching you a skill that is one of the most powerful success enablers: Critical Thinking. Critical Thinking is in marked decline in modern society. Feel-good approaches such as positive thinking have taken over. As a consequence, more and more important decisions are made without rigorous analyses or thoughtful reflection. Not surprisingly, many people, teams, and organizations fail to reach their goals and remain far below their true success potential. This book seeks to end this misery of disappointed expectations, unsatisfying underachievement, and frustrating failures by teaching step-by-step the powerful concepts and tools of critical thinking. Real-world examples taken from business, finance, sports, and daily life serve as illustrations. Practice exercises are included at the end of each chapter. The powerful combination of practical teachings, real-world examples, and real-life practice exercises creates a launch pad for achieving more success and better life outcomes. From martial arts, the author adopted the concept of different colored belts to mark the progress in learning. The focus of this book is on the foundation of Critical Thinking (i.e., white belt to brown belt lessons). A preview of the black belt classes of Critical Thinking (the subject of the next book) is included at the end. This book is for those who want to be more successful in life. Particular focus has been given to high practicality, easy implementation, and fast improvements. Don't wait any longer. Start your journey to becoming a black belt critical thinker and a successful problem solver now.

Strengths Based School Counseling written by JohnP. Galassi and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-05 with Education categories.

Despite calls for a more preventive and developmental mode of functioning, school counseling has tended to be driven by a reactive and sometimes crisis orientation. Like social workers and school, counseling, and clinical psychologists, school counselors typically function to alleviate deficits, often in a small percentage of the students they serve. Although this orientation has served school counselors well in many instances, it is not empowering, it does not serve all students, and it does not replace those deficits with the type of positive characteristics and abilities that schools are attempting to develop. This is the first book to provide a comprehensive look at the theory, research, and intervention strategies that comprise a strengths-based, developmental approach to school counseling. In keeping with ASCA recommendations, the Strengths-Based School Counseling (SBSC) framework discusses academic, personal/social and career development outcomes for all students at the elementary, middle and secondary school levels. Other key features include: integrative frameworkSBSC builds upon contemporary research from a variety of areas: school counseling, developmental psychology, school psychology, education, positive psychology, resiliency, and social work. evidence-based interventionsdetailed examples of successful evidence-based interventions and environments are presented at the elementary, middle, and high school levels for each major developmental area (academic, personal/social, and career) identified in ASCAs National Model. readability and pedagogybeautifully written, the text includes lists of key points, tables of student strengths, illustrative examples, and student exercises.
