Robert Fisk è convinto che i cronisti delle guerre in Medio Oriente, pur avendo documentato in modo molto competente i fatti, pur avendo riportato correttamente luoghi, personaggi, e tempi, abbiano tradito il loro impegno con lettori perché hanno mancato di chiarire il perché delle ingiustizie e degli orrori e soprattutto non abbiano saputo offrire un orizzonte morale e storico in cui inserire gli avvenimenti.
