The monograph has an original, interesting and correct structure that includes a comparative analysis of selected aspects of traditional education in the context of historical and modern digital media education. The cognitively important results of empirical research on phenomena and processes present in the education of both countries, learning projects and teachers’ roles in contemporary education as well as their competencies in the use of digital media demonstrate the evolution of technology. Furthermore, they indicate the shape and contents of future education, which will be focused on the use of computers, computer networks and social media. The book can encourage its readers to reflect on pedagogy, the role of new media in contemporary and future education, the role and position of learners as well as the social role of the teacher. The book presents a high scientific level. Students, teachers and researchers involved in the analysis of education systems will be interested in its contents. Moreover, it can apply to people interested in the history of didactic media in comparative perspective, methodological research concepts in media pedagogy and also to those who are concerned with the results of empirical research and scientific discussion. The monograph is innovative and original. It is undeniably a unique publication on the Polish market. prof. dr hab. Stanisław Juszczyk

"The Handbook of Research on K-12 Online and Blended Learning is an edited collection of chapters that sets out to present the current state of research in K-12 online and blended learning. The beginning chapters lay the groundwork of the historical, international, and political landscape as well as present the scope of research methodologies used. Subsequent sections share a synthesis of theoretical and empirical work describing where we have been, what we currently know, and where we hope to go with research in the areas of learning and learners, content domains, teaching, the role of the other, and technological innovations."--Book home page.

Border Crossing In Education written by Joëlle Droux and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02-02 with Education categories.

Border-crossing in Education comprises a series of case studies covering a variety of cultural areas, in order to reveal the density of connections and exchanges that inform educational practices, policies, and systems. It attaches particular importance to individual and collective actors that govern these flows – initiating, promoting, or reconfiguring transfers of policy models. The contributors explore various aspects of the circulatory mechanisms that have been deployed in the field of education during the modern and contemporary period. Varying the observation scales, from local to international, they demonstrate the multilateral character of the circulatory dynamics observed. The implementation of rich and varied approaches to these complex processes offers a perspective that complements and renews our knowledge of the genesis and evolution of educational policies and systems, most notably highlighting their foreign inspirations. However, these studies do not merely evoke borrowings and hybridization, as if national borders proved porous or non-existent. Instead they show that the phenomena of resistance, reinterpretation, and rejection are also an integral part of transnational mechanisms of exchanges. The book thus demonstrates the relevance of a historical approach in addressing these transnational mechanisms in the field of education and childhood policy. This book was originally published as a special issue of Paedagogica Historica.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights endorsed in 1948 by member states of the United Nations continues to remain very much valid as it provides the solid foundation for most actions and activities that are aimed at guaranteeing the rights of everybody. The rights enunciated in the Declaration are comprehensive and two that are relevant to the content of this book are the right to education and the right to learn. The right to education and the right to learn are known to have been hotly debated by politicians, policy makers, and implementers. Sometimes, the rights in question here have found their way into political parties’ manifestoes, and advocates oftherighttoeducation andtherighttolearnhavebeenquicktobringintojudgment politicians who have not lived up to their promises. Even at that, many member states of the United Nations have taken steps to ensure that access to learning is jealously guarded. For education and lifelong learning remain among the primary forces that can guarantee individual, community and national development, as they had always been from time immemorial. Globally, there has been ample evidence of efforts made by governments to p- mote the widening of access to participation in learning activities. Even so, the literature on the subject of access and participation has not captured suf ciently what has happened across the world in terms of providing access outside national boundaries in the context of globalization and the rapid creation of the knowled- based economies of the 21st century.

"The book chronicles the history of the collaborative partnership between MIT and the Singapore Ministry of Education to create the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), the country's fourth public university. Fisher describes how MIT faculty communicated the practices and identity of the Institute as they developed and executed the vision for SUTD, and how local actors at the university reframed, modified, and adapted these practices to fit the local political, cultural, and economic context in Singapore. Fisher focuses on the early years of SUTD's development. She looks at the Singaporean government's intentions in founding a fourth university, and how prior research partnerships with MIT provided the confidence on both sides required to design an innovative curricular structure for SUTD. Using the techniques of ethnography, Fisher investigates the personal and professional incentives for MIT professors to invest their time and expertise in the project, how the early SUTD administration managed to market the fledgling institution to Singaporean students while dealing with temporary campus facilities, and how the first cohorts of students negotiated the unfamiliar pedagogy and curricular structures designed by MIT"--

By the end of 2020, the number of forcibly displaced people globally had reached 82.4 million as a result of persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations and events seriously disturbing public order (UNHCR, 2021). Efforts to prevent these people from crossing national boundaries have resulted in draconian legislation and the vilification of migrants at various international borders. In the Mediterranean, at the border with ‘fortress Europe’, there have been thousands of fatalities as migrants risk the treacherous crossing in tiny boats. The so-called ‘weaponization of migration’ is apparent in recent events on the Polish-Belarussian border as hundreds of asylum seekers are trapped between rival forces of armed soldiers. Under the UK government's 'hostile environment' policy, many legal immigration routes have been closed, and the rights of asylum seekers have been severely curtailed. The so-called 'migrant caravan', which began in Honduras in October 2018, prompted the US and Mexican governments to deploy active-duty military officers to the border, creating more chaos in the area.
