With explosive new research and access to never-before-seen documents, Kim McGrath tells the story of Australia's secret agenda in the Timor Sea, exposing the ruthlessness of successive governments. Australia did nothing to stop Indonesia's devastating occupation of East Timor, when - on our doorstep - 200,000 lives were lost from a population of 650,000. Instead, our government colluded with Indonesia to secure more favourable maritime boundaries. Even today, Australia claims resources that, by international law, should belong to its neighbour - a young country still recovering from catastrophe and in desperate need of income. Crossing the Lineis a long-overdue exposU of the most shameful episode in recent Australian history. 'Crossing the Lineis an unassailable exposU of Australia's ruthless pursuit of resources in the Timor Sea. A timely and definitive book.' JosU Ramos-Horta 'Kim McGrath has trawled the national archives to produce the smoking gun on Australia's callous betrayal of the people who supported our commandos in World War II, and on the immoral and unlawful appropriation of their oil.'Paul Cleary, author of two books on East Timor 'Revelatory, extraordinary, compelling- Crossing the Lineis all this and more. A long-overdue exposU of the most shameful episode in recent Australian history. An absolute must read.' Peter Garrett

A chance encounter between two childhood friends, Hercules and Paisley, reignites their forbidden love and challenges their families' bitter feud. He calls me PG, and my heart skips a beat. Nobody calls me that but Hercules Lord, the boy, now a man, I've had a crush on since high school. We could never be together, though. A romance between us is strictly forbidden. The Lords are old money, and my family, the Groves, are new money—and the Groves and the Lords don't mingle. The hate between our families runs deep enough to create an invisible line in the sand that neither of us ever dared to cross. But that's never stopped us from staring at each other from across a crowded room. And we've always been friends. Oh! There was that one night seven years ago. I bet Hercules doesn't know that he's my first. Yet here we are again, gazing into each other's eyes. But tonight feels different. We're both adults, fully capable of choosing our own paths. And our desire for each other wants to defy any restraint. So truly, honestly... What will happen if we finally and irrevocably cross the line? Crossing the Line is the first book in the Lords of Manhattan series. This novel can be read as a standalone and ends happily ever after.

Despite the increased number of interracial marriages in recent years, Black/White couples still experience a host of problems in American society, particularly in the South. Drawing on extensive interviews with 28 Black/White couples living in the South, this ethnographic study describes the issues and obstacles these couples have to face and documents their overwhelming sense of social isolation. The problems include hostility, encountered while the couple is in public, ranging from stares to outright attacks, as well as a lack of support and ostracization by their families. After discussing the nature of Black/White relationships and the historical implications of interracial couples—beginning with slavery—the authors adopt a life history approach, which allows them to probe deeply into the meaning of the interviewees' responses.

"'Of course, let us have peace,' we cry, 'but at the same time let us have normalcy, let us lose nothing, let our lives stand intact, let us know neither prison nor ill repute nor disruption of ties . . .' There is no peace because there are no peacemakers. There are no makers of peace because the making of peace is at least as costly as the making of war--at least as exigent, at least as disruptive, at least as liable to bring disgrace and prison and death in its wake." Daniel Berrigan, No Bars to Manhood More than sixty-five peacemakers have contributed oral narratives to this compelling history of those who say no to war making in the strongest way possible: by engaging in civil disobedience and paying the consequences in jail or prison. Crossing the Line gives voice to often neglected social history and provides provocative stories of actions, trials, and imprisonment. This fascinating volume serves as an excellent supplement to conventional histories. Almost all the storytellers here are people of faith or are inspired by those who live by faith. Many work at conventional careers; some do full-time peacemaking by living in Catholic Worker houses or in the Jonah House community; several are priests and nuns who minister worldwide. Also featured are three resisters prominent in War Resisters League history. From World War II conscientious objectors to contemporary activists, these narrators have refused to be helpless in the face of a violent world, and have said with their bodies that they do not accept the status quo of permanent war and war preparation. In short, the voices illustrate hope at a time when it seems in short supply.

When the wrong man turns out to be the right one... Nash, a longtime Dirty Angels MC member and lead singer of Dirty Deeds, has a secret. For years, he’s hidden his bisexuality from his brothers, fellow bikers, worried how they’d take the news. But Nash isn’t the only one keeping secrets from his brotherhood. So is Cross, a police officer and member of the Blue Avengers MC. As opposite as they come, when Cross spots Nash across the bar, he can’t resist the unexpected attraction. Then lines are crossed, boundaries blurred. And they need to survive in two different worlds where men who like other men aren’t usually accepted, and where bikers and cops don’t mix. Reality and fantasy are two different things. The fantasy being Cross and Nash can be together, that they can make it work. The reality being their situation is impossible. Cross will never give up being a cop. Nash will never give up being a biker. What either of them would have to walk away from is more than anyone should ask for. In the end, fighting reality could be a losing battle in a war they might never win. Note: A standalone, Crossing the Line is a crossover gay romance involving a member of the Dirty Angels MC and one from the Blue Avengers MC. It includes forbidden love, enemies to lovers, cop vs biker, alpha vs alpha. As with all my books, it has no cliffhanger and an HEA.
