The establishment of a communist regime in China upended Western plans for the post-WWII Asian order. As the United States of America and Great Britain grappled with the implications of this new China in terms of their strategic and economic interests in the western Pacific, significant divergences also emerged. A newly independent India seeking to define its place and role in the region under conditions of Cold War was hoping to enlist China as partner. This book, based on archival material, outlines India’s efforts to craft a foreign policy in the context of the Anglo–American competition in the Far East. The roles played by the towering personalities of that era—Jawaharlal Nehru, Zhou Enlai, Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John Foster Dulles, Winston Churchill, Anthony Eden and Krishna Menon—and the personal chemistry between them are woven into the narrative to paint a picture of the nuts and bolts of Indian diplomacy during the early years of the nation.

For author Ron Watts, the winds of change have been a constant companion. From the story of his life as a mission pilot in Australia's outback, pastor of the church on a Pacific Island and serving as chaplain in major prisons and hospitals, two other constants emerge - Ron's love of flying, and his fidelity to the Cross of Jesus Christ. From childhood fascination to a true 'life on the wing', Crosswinds is the story of how a young boy's dream became a reality beyond expectations.

"Tilford exposes the generals' tunnel-vision. . . . He demolishes the myth that the 1972 'Christmas bombing' brought Hanoi to its knees . . . . His controversial thesis is that the bombing of the North and the interdiction campaign against the Ho Chi Minh Trail were in no way decisive and that USAF leadership obtusely failed to perceive that North Vietnam, an agricultural nation, was simply not susceptible to strategic bombing."--Publishers Weekly ". . . . hard hitting study on the failure of American air power in the Vietnam War . . . . The acute intellectual content of the book and the author's engaging writing style make the book easy to recommend."--Armed Forces Journal International

Members of an Alsatian family are swept into the crosswinds of World War II, some loyal to Germany, some to France, and some so desperate to survive they betray both countries. For one couple it means an evacuation from the city of Strasbourg to a village in Southwestern France where they live a substandard existence that becomes increasingly lethal as enemy troops occupy Free France, and the husband, a Jew, joins the Resistance. The wife’s cousin, an SS, married to an American girl employed at IBM-Berlin, is involved in the Final Solution. Later dispatched to southwestern France, he leads raids in pursuit of Resistance fighters and Jews as part of a vast German suppression program. Will his path cross his cousin’s? A suspense-driven story based on personal experience, family accounts, several live interviews in situ with surviving members of the French Resistance in the Dordogne, on location research and interviews with war survivors, as well as research in French, English and German WWII history books, literature, and museums. "Into Crosswinds" received the second prize award in the Historical Fiction category at the 22nd annual CIPA EVVY (Colorado Independent Publishers Association) 2016 Awards. Entries are worldwide.

Crosswinds is a social satire set in a boarding school. The themes are intrinsically intertwined. The story revolves around Mrs. Okharedia, one of the major characters and Mr. Bello, a debauched assistant head of school who is ready to sacrifice anyone in his quest to satisfy his expatriate masters. His inordinate desire to explore Mrs. Okharedia leads him on a collision course he is ill-prepared for. On one particular incident that will ever remain fresh in her memory, a grade IX boy tapped her buttocks in the presence of his classmates. She slapped the boy and asked the boy to leave her class. When the matter reached Mr. Radcliff, she was reproached for not exercising caution in dealing with the boy, took exception to this, and reminded her that the school rule forbade her from making any form of physical contact with her students. The social relations among students and staff, the school curricula, the role of money, the admission process, facilities at the learning centers, and the conditions of services of members of staff, among others, are explored. The administration of discipline to staff members and students are also lampooned.
