Crystal oscillators have been in use now for well over SO years-one of the first was built by W. G. Cady in 1921. Today, millions of them are made every year, covering a range of frequencies from a few Kilohertz to several hundred Mega hertz and a range of stabilities from a fraction of one percent to a few parts in ten to the thirteenth, with most of them, by far, still in the range of several tens of parts per million.Their major application has long been the stabilization of fre quencies in transmitters and receivers, and indeed, the utilization of the frequency spectrum would be in utter chaos, and the communication systems as we know them today unthinkable,'without crystal oscillators. With the need to accommodate ever increasing numbers of users in a limited spectrum space, this traditional application will continue to grow for the fore seeable future, and ever tighter tolerances will have to be met by an ever larger percentage of these devices.

A Guide To Analog Asics written by Paul M. Jr. Brown and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.
A Guide to Analog ASICs is a working reference for the engineer who regularly uses analog custom technology or plans to use it in a product. The book includes a detailed analysis of analog and digital application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), the vendor selection process, cost trade-offs, and design-options (in-house, design center, use of vendor design resources). After introducing the development of analog ASICs, ASIC vendors, development cycles, and cost considerations, the text reviews basic global semiconductor technology, IC fabrication techniques, and the limitations of linear IC design. The components found inside the chip are integrated resistors, capacitors, transistors, diodes, and metal connections. The text explains building block circuits, how these are used to construct complex circuitry, and how the Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (SPICE) can check for circuit performance. The selection of the chip's package is important and depends on several factors, such as thermal size, physical size, PC board technology, number of pins, die size. When tested, a typical product should have a failure rate that follows a curve composed of a failure rate (X-axis) versus time (Y-axis). The book also provides suggestions on vendor selections including vendor identification, site visitation, and price negotiations. The book is suitable for computer engineers, designers of industrial processes, and researchers involved in electrical, computer, or other devices using integrated circuits.

Electromagnetic Compatibility Handbook written by Kenneth L. Kaiser and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-09-29 with Technology & Engineering categories.
As the number of electrical devices in use continues to grow, so do the challenges of ensuring the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of products and systems. Fortunately, engineers have at their disposal an array of approximations, models, and rules-of-thumb to help them meet those challenges. Unfortunately, the number of these tools and guidelines is overwhelming, and worse still is the thought of investigating their origins and confirming their results. The Electromagnetic Compatibility Handbook is an unprecedented compilation of the many approximations, guidelines, models, and rules-of-thumb used in EMC analyses, complete with their sources and their limitations. The book presents these in an efficient question-and-answer format and incorporates an extremely comprehensive set of tables and figures. The author has either derived from basic principles or obtained and verified from their original sources all of the expressions in the tables. Mathcad was used to generate most of the plots and solve many of the equations, and the author includes the Mathcad programs for many of these so users can clearly see the variable assignments, assumptions, and equations. Designed to be of long-lasting value to engineers, researchers, and students, the Electromagnetic Compatibility Handbook is ideal both for quick reference and as a textbook for upper-level and graduate electrical engineering courses.

Sensors, Circuits, and Systems for Scientific Instruments: A Unified Approach presents a unified treatment of modern measurement systems by integrating relevant knowledge in sensors, circuits, signal processing, and machine learning. It also presents detailed case studies of several real-life measurement systems to illustrate how theoretical analysis and high-level designs are translated into working scientific instruments. The book is meant for upper-level undergraduate and beginning graduate students in electrical and computer engineering, applied physics, and biomedical engineering. It is designed to fill a gap in the market between books focused on specific components of measurement systems (semiconductor devices, analog circuits, digital signal processing, etc.) and books that provide a high-level "survey" or "handbook"-type overview of a wide range of sensors and measurement systems. - Develops a unified treatment of modern scientific instruments by combining knowledge of high-performance sensors, semiconductor devices, circuits, signal processing, and embedded computing - Focuses on fundamental concepts in precision sensing and interface circuitry (accuracy, precision, linearity, noise, etc.) and their impact on system-level performance instead of presenting a "laundry list" of sensor types - Introduces readers to the indispensable role of signal detection theory, pattern recognition, and machine learning for modern scientific instrumentation - Presents multiple case studies and examples to demonstrate how theoretical concepts are translated into real-life measurement systems
