That demonstrates the greatness of the author of La semana de colores, Andamos huyendo Lola, El accidente y otros cuentos, and others. This book collects all of her short stories plus two previously unpublished works, with a prologue by Geney Beltrán Félix.

Argentinian artist Mirtha Dermisache (1940-2012) wrote dozens of books, hundreds of letters and postcards, and countless texts. Not a single one was legible, yet, in their promixity to language, they all resonate with a mysterious potential for meaning. Using ink on paper, Dermisache invented an array of graphic languages, each with their own unique lexical and syntactic structures. Some resemble a child's scrawl; others feel like nets or knots or transcriptions of seismic waves. Praised by Roland Barthes in the early '70s for the "extreme intelligence of the theoretical problems related to writing that [her] work entails," Dermisache's graphisms suggest both an abstract "essence of writing" and a concrete democratization of written forms. Elena Garro and Mexico's Modern Dreams uses Elena Garro’s eccentric life and work as a lens through which to examine mid-twentieth-century Mexican intellectuals' desire to reconcile mexicanidad with modernidad. The famously scandalous first wife of Nobel Prize winner poet Octavio Paz, and an award-winning author in her own right, Garro constructed a mysterious and often contradictory persona through her very public participation in Mexican political conflicts. Herself an anxious and contentious Mexican writer, Elena Garro elicited profound political and aesthetic anxiety in her Mexican readers. She confused the personal and the public in her creative fictions as well as in her vision of Mexican modernity.
