"Aunque desde el comienzo de las civilizaciones la Moda (en tanto indumentaria) ha sido un vertiginoso motor de la evolución humana, su estudio estuvo por mucho tiempo excluido, salvo como arqueología del pasado, de la dignidad de las ciencias humanas. Georg Simmel inauguró, de modo pionero, la posibilidad de una filosofía de la moda como reflejo, en el cuerpo del orden social, de la pluralidad contradictoria y mutante de los fenómenos que hacen a las fuerzas de la vida. Cuando la Moda empezó a adquirir legitimidad en los campos de los estudios humanísticos, lo hizo a través de la semiología como disciplina rectora. En este punto, Roland Barthes señaló con fuerza que el vestido no puede reducirse a una función protectora u ornamental sino que se trata de un hecho social total en su función significante. Ya antes, Henri Focillon había señalado que la moda crea híbridos, causa un sismo en la distinción entre el ser humano y el animal y, en definitiva, busca erigir una humanidad artificial. Estos aspectos cosmogónicos de la moda fueron el objeto de una particular atención por parte de Walter Benjamin que buscaba detectar, en los escaparates de los pasajes de París, el aire de los tiempos capitalistas. Esta excelsa tradición es retomada, de modo brillante, por Turquesa Topper con una osadía suplementaria pues se propone hacer de la Moda un objeto propio de la metafísica, ya que la propuesta consiste en abordar ahora este objeto de materialidad inasible a partir del problema de su constitución antropotécnica. Surge así una hipótesis novedosa: ¿cuáles son las consecuencias de la enorme mutación de nuestro tiempo donde el epicentro de la Moda no es tanto el vestido sino el cuerpo mismo de los seres humanos? Se vuelve entonces necesario asociar la estética y la política como derivaciones de esa ontología del cuerpo. Si ya no se viste al cuerpo tanto como se lo modifica o diseña, un proceso de inmaterialización empieza a tener lugar para convertir a esa corporalidad en un espectro. El minucioso recorrido de la autora a través de campañas, artistas del cuerpo y archivos audiovisuales muestra un cambio profundo en la señera noción filosófica de verdad que ahora se manifiesta en sentido extra-corporal como "verdad no verdadera" en un enjambre de apariencias. De pronto, el libro recorre el camino que hace que la Moda se transforme en la garantía de una imposible desnudez que proyecta su imagen post-mortem. La Moda no es únicamente el reflejo de la sociedad presente sino también la metafísica que anuncia la Humanidad por venir. Esta apuesta, la más arriesgada, torna a esta obra en un sofisticado oráculo de nuestro futuro como trans-especie más allá de lo humano" (Fabián Ludueña Romandini).
