Algunos estudios y encuestas evidencian patrones autoritarios o populistas en la cultura política peruana, como por ejemplo el apoyo a la "mano dura" en cierto tipo de circunstancias; pero si todos somos así, ¿qué hacer con esta situación?, ¿qué hay detrás de esta demanda? En un momento en el que la gobernabilidad del país requiere ser reconstruida, es fundamental saber cuál es el vínculo de la ciudadanía con la política y qué retos plantea este escenario a las agrupaciones políticas, líderes y gobernantes. Si los políticos tienen que lograr una mayor legitimidad, ¿con qué tipo de ciudadano se deben vincular?, ¿compartimos todos las mismas características? Al tomar como referencia los desarrollos teóricos y estudios realizados en el marco de lo que se denomina cultura política, el estudio se plantea como un aporte en el entendimiento de cuáles son los rasgos predominantes de la cultura política peruana, partiendo de un análisis de lo que ocurre en Lima. Se profundiza en los elementos que la estructuran, las clases de subculturas existentes, sus particularidades y qué retos plantea cada una para quienes se mueven en la política limeña. Como herramienta práctica se implementaron ocho dinámicas grupales desarrolladas entre mujeres y hombres de 18 a 55 años de edad residentes en Lima, de todos los estratos socioeconómicos, a quienes se hicieron 1530 encuestas.
