God's answer begins with you. Something is not quite right in the local church. Many Christians see the symptoms of decline in fellowship and spiritual vitality. If health and life are indications of growth, their congregation is not well. Unfortunately, the ailing church is becoming the common church. Professor and church growth consultant Bob Whitesel has written Cure for the Common Church to offer potent and proven cures to foster health in their local congregations. By thoughtfully examining Scriptures, he applies truths through real-life experience from his years of consulting. Questions for group study also help members explore and discern together how to become a healthy force in their church. Cure for the Common Church will fan the fires of change and bring health, vitality, and new life to your church

Jesus stated that with faith in Him we would accomplish greater things than He. Jesus saved the lost, healed the sick, ministered to the multitudes, and raised the dead. Accordingly, the modern church should be doing much more. So what's the problem? Why do we fall short of our Savior's standard? Quite bluntly, Christianity has caught a chronic case of apathy! In The Cure for Common Christianity, using a command of theology and a unique, witty writing style, Pastor Tommy Galloway outlines the formula to alleviate this Church crisis. The problems are complex and the symptoms are multi-faceted; the cure is simple-a full-fledged return to the basics of Christianity. The world is disillusioned by the corruption and complacency plaguing our houses of worship. Christians cannot waste time. A spiritually sick world is waiting for a healthy Church to offer hope. They are waiting for - The Cure for Common Christianity. Pastor Tommy Galloway began his ministry at age sixteen. Upon completion of high school in Calhoun City, Mississippi, he attended Jackson College of Ministries and received a degree in Theology. He served as Youth Pastor in Longview, Texas, before beginning evangelistic work throughout the United States. In 1984, he married Candace Greene. They continued evangelistic work until 1988, when they were elected pastors of Powell's Grove Pentecostal Church in Jayess, Mississippi. After pastoring there for six years, they moved to Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1994, to begin evangelistic work again. In 1996, they founded Word of Life Church where they still serve as Senior Pastors. Pastor Tommy's vision is, "Lead Locally, Reach Regionally, and Grow Globally." Although pastoring the phenomenal people of Word of Life Church is his first calling, he still ministers at evangelistic crusades throughout America and other countries. Tommy and Candi have three children, Landon, Kristian, and Alexis.

The church is in the desert today!! The arid conditions existing in the church leave the people parched, thirsty and longing for refreshing. Many church leaders do not know how to get the spiritual water for themselves and therefore they cannot lead God’s people into the Promised Land of true fellowship and discipleship. This sad state of the church causes many church buildings to stand empty because people are tired of church leaders committing gross indecencies and leading people astray with messages that “tickle their ears” or boring them to tears with sermons that contain no life-changing truths. In The Wellspring of Life: Why the Church is Dying of Thirst, Dr. Meyer van Rensburg addresses the issue by pointing out many of the mistakes that have been made (from spraying people with “Doom” insecticide in Africa to church leaders refusing to be criticised because they see themselves as “little gods”, as well as the vacuous Sunday services that leave people in the same state that they came to church, instead of inspiring them and changing their lives). The church is dying of thirst in the desert and the condition can only be treated by discovering the living water to quench that thirst. Too many church leaders do not know how to hear the voice of God and therefore cannot lead people to the living water. By following the listing of the well in the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, this book demonstrates that the church needs the living water the Wellspring of Life provides. Each mention of the well is dealt with separately to show the significance of what is revealed there, to prove how these Scriptures were specifically put in this order to provide a systematic study of the importance of the well to the church and to point out the mistakes people in the church make. For instance, with Hagar, the fact that the well existed in the desert is first explored and then the fact that it had to be revealed for her to see it. Many people live next to the Well, but it has never been revealed to them that it can change their lives. Further revelations follow with each mention of the well: from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob through to David and the prophets. This continues to the New Testament and the Book of Revelation to show how God will provide for us if we can but follow His instructions regarding the Wellspring of Life. The truths discovered are applied as lessons for the church today. Pastors and ministry professionals will find this book illuminating as it covers new ground, yet it is aimed at the church-going public. It can also serve as a handbook in colleges, as it has many references and quotes, yet it is not written in high academic language.

Excerpt from Incubation: Or the Cure of Disease in Pagan Temples and Christian Churches The subject of Incubation, which has hitherto received merely cursory notice from English writers, is of interest to modern readers for two reasons. In the first place, the practice - designated without ambiguity in German as Tempelschlaf, fie, Temple-sleep is one which, in virtue of its origin, belongs to paganism, but is countenance'd and encouraged in the twentieth century by two of the chief sections of the Christian Church. And secondly, it produces results which have much in common with hypnotic cures and the achievements of Christian Science. The aim of. The present work is to give an historical sketch of the development of the practice of Incubation from the earliest times down to the present day.
