El presente Curso de Derecho tributario (Parte especial. Sistema tributario. Los tributos en particular) pretende ofrecer una visión sistemática y clara del sistema tributario español. Está pensado como un curso completo sobre la materia, con una vocación preferentemente universitaria. No obstante, también se ha pretendido ofrecer a los profesionales una guía útil para encuadrar y comprender las normas que regulan el tributo a aplicar en cada caso. Tras un capítulo introductorio donde se explica la situación actual del sistema tributario y su evolución histórica, se examinan cada una de las principales figuras que lo conforman. Así, el capítulo más extenso se dedica al Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas, que, como sabemos, es el principal tributo a través del cual se realiza el ideal de justicia tributaria. Su explicación se lleva a cabo de manera detallada, con abundantes ejemplos que sirven para entender sus aspectos más complejos. El libro dedica también una especial atención al Impuesto sobre Sociedades, segundo pilar de la imposición directa en nuestro país. Así, se ofrece una visión esquemática y clara de la determinación del resultado contable, incidiendo luego en las correcciones que sobre el mismo introduce su Ley reguladora. Para finalizar con la imposición directa, se incluyen tres capítulos dedicados a los Impuestos sobre la Renta de No Residentes, Patrimonio y Sucesiones y Donaciones. En la imposición indirecta, no cabe duda de que el núcleo central gira en torno a los Impuestos sobre Transmisiones Patrimoniales y Valor Añadido. El primero grava el tráfico civil de bienes, mientras que el segundo el empresarial. Es preciso resaltar el esfuerzo explicativo que se realiza en este último, uno de los más complejos de nuestro sistema. Para finalizar, el manual no sólo se detiene en los tributos del sistema estatal, sino que también se ocupa de las Haciendas autonómica y local.
