Metamorfozy i muzea to praca z zakresu filozofii kultury dotycząca przede wszystkim modi bycia-człowieka-w-świecie. Andre Malraux w omawianym w tej monografii wielowątkowym dziele analizuje podstawowe pojęcie metamorfozy, czyli wszechstronnego modelu interpretacyjnego tego, co filozofowie egzystencji i późniejsi antropolodzy kultury (tak świetnie zaprezentowani w niniejszej pracy) nazwali avanture d’ existence tj. wolności ludzkiej, unaoczniając przygodę egzystencji w świecie, jak i zmiany zachodzące w samej kulturze, jej kodach, paradygmatach i symbolach. Z kolei metafora muzeum zarówno w światopoglądzie Malraux jak i w prezentowanych tu koncepcjach Clifforda Geertza i Jamesa Clifforda nie tylko stanowi przestrzeń ekspozycji obiektów kulturowych, ale w sensie metaforycznym staje się przedstawieniem samej kultury. Niniejsza pozycja krytycznie rekonstruuje poglądy A. Malraux, zestawiając je z ideami Clifforda Geertza i Jamesa Clifforda, w perspektywie koncepcji kultury jako fenomenu nadrzędnego w stosunku do egzystencji człowieka. The World in the Mind and Sculpture of Deafblind People discusses the creative capabilities of people with simultaneous impairment of sight and hearing. It is a pioneering interdisciplinary study combining theories from the fields of pedagogy, psychology, semiotics and theory of art. It presents a study of the act of creation performed by deafblind people, which makes it possible to propose a vision of reality as conveyed through their sculptures, and which forms a base for the scrutiny of the specific and individual ways of understanding the world and its visualisation in the minds of deafblind artists. The key to the model of the analysis of the creative act proposed here is the concept of a sign developed by semiotics as proposed by Morris and Peirce.
