"Dad, the Saviour" revolves around the hardships and struggles a father faces in his journey of raising his child and still turns out to be the trivialized parent. The author has inked the novella as a dedication to her father, where she has tried to convey the life of her father, how he has encountered different struggles in his life, how he dealt with them and how society has dominated his presence due to his kind nature and clean heart. We have actually built up a culture where the physical pain of the mother is rated a notch above the sacrifices of the father. Mothers are special but fathers are no less. The author has tried to bring out the same, through the life of her own father.

In a compelling, honest, and transparent account, Ralph Friesen tells the story of his father, Reverend Peter D. Friesen of Steinbach, Manitoba. He also tells his own story, of the search for his father and a crisis of faith. Growing up in a fundamentalist Mennonite community as the son of a minister, Ralph resisted the pressure to be “saved” and struggled to find a spiritual alternative. His father suffered a debilitating stroke when Ralph was a young teenager, but it is only now, in his seventies, that Ralph has delved into the meaning of that event. Dad, God, and Me is Ralph’s quest to discover and convey the man his father was—with all of his strengths, faults, aspirations, and regrets. Drawing on journal entries, old photographs, and personal memories, this memoir welcomes readers into a particular time, place, and family. An engaging read for anyone who appreciates that “real life” can be challenging, painful, and beautiful all at the same time.

A brisk, humorous collection of essays that redefines the mythos of fatherhood depicted in film, television, and video games. What do dads tell us about the world? Not your real dad, but dads in general. Dads are everywhere. Lurking in our movies, television shows, and video games. Spouting homespun wisdom and atrocious jokes, wallowing in might-have-beens and back-in-my-days, or rigidly defending the status quo. These fictional dads fuel a myth of fatherhood. What is that myth trying to tell us? And what is it trying to sell us? Dad Bod is a clever, riveting collection of essays about father figures in popular culture. From Gandalf to Homer Simpson, Die Hard to The Mandalorian, these essays unpack the tropes that inform our collective image of fatherhood. Follow Cian Cruise, newly minted dad, as he riffs on the stereotypes and lore of fatherhood, traces a contemporary art history of dads in popular culture, and journeys to the heart of dadness to become a better father. Confused. Scared. Pressured. Alone. That's what so many of the women and men in these true stories felt when faced with an unexpected pregnancy. Many believed they had no alternative but to abort their child, while others made the difficult decision to choose life. All live with the consequences of that decision. And all have experienced the healing grace and mercy of God. Their stories will touch your heart, expand your ability to offer compassion to all affected by abortion, and provide practical tools and guidance through the healing process. The global abortion epidemic demands a response of support, encouragement, and grace from those on all sides of the issue. Only then will those in crisis pregnancy situations feel equipped and empowered to choose life. And only then can every person affected by abortion let go of the past and move forward into a future filled with healing and hope. "Raw, honest, inspirational and devastating…. A beautiful read.” —Laura Klassen, Human Rights Activist, Founder and Director of CHOICE42

God turns scrap metal into gold. He changed the Apostle Paul and he changed the many thousands who sat in on Paul’s teaching. By God's grace, the lessons in Paul’s discipleship training school became part of the New Testament. These five letters show us how God takes ordinary people from the scrapheap and turns the base metal of their lives into purest gold. God inspired the Bible for a reason. He wants you read it and let it change your life. If you are willing to take this challenge seriously, then you will love Phil Moore’s devotional commentaries. Their bite-sized chapters are punchy and relevant, yet crammed with fascinating scholarship. Welcome to a new way of reading the Bible. Welcome to the Straight to the Heart series.

He is one of the best known faces in television comedy, yet the long-suffering vicar of Walmington-on-Sea is in real life a Christian of deep conviction. Perfectly cast as the eccentric vicar, constantly tetchy at the invasion of his church hall by Captain Mainwaring and the elderly platoon, he appeared in the famous BBC series throughout its nine-year run and also in many other television and stage dramas. Still in constant demand for public appearances Frank takes an affectionate view behind the scenes of Dad's Army and the world of show business and reveals his personal journey through faith.

The twin sisters Agnes Lewis (1843–1926) and Margaret Gibson (1843–1920) were pioneering biblical scholars who became experts in a number of ancient languages. Travelling widely in the Middle East, they made several significant discoveries, including one of the earliest manuscripts of the four gospels in Syriac, a dialect of Aramaic, the language probably spoken by Jesus himself. Originally published in the Horae Semitica series, this fascicule contains the English text of an Assyrian bishop's biblical commentary. Considered by some to be the father of the Eastern Church, Isho'dad of Merv produced detailed discussions of most books of the Bible for his congregation in the ninth century. This volume, first published in 1911, focuses on the four gospels and provides detailed interpretation and explanation of each book. Translated and edited by Margaret Gibson, this is a valuable and informative resource for theologians by a key figure in Eastern Christianity.
