Unbestritten ist die Zeugnisthematik eines der bedeutendsten Themen des Johannesevangeliums. Immer wieder wurde diesbezüglich darauf hingewiesen, dass die verwendeten Zeugnisbegriffe in rechtlichen, wenn nicht sogar gerichtlichen Zusammenhängen begegnen würden und das Johannesevangelium als metaphorischer Gerichtsprozess zu verstehen sei. Bei näherer Betrachtung fällt jedoch auf, dass neben dem Zeugnisgeben unter prozessähnlichen Umständen vor allem ein missionarisch-einladendes bzw. religiös motiviertes Zeugnisgeben im Mittelpunkt der Erzählung steht. Dieser Form des Zeugnisgebens widmet sich die vorliegende Arbeit. Untersucht werden dabei die narrative Darstellung der Zeugen und Zeuginnen, der Zeugnisempfänger und -empfängerinnen sowie des Zeugnisakts und dessen Folgen.
