Recent research in the area of suicidology has provided significant new insights in the epidemiological, psychopathological, and biological characteristics of suicidal behaviour. The International Handbook of Suicide and Attempted Suicide is the first book to bring together this expertise and translate it into practical guidelines for those responsible for policy issues and for those involved in the treatment and prevention of suicidal behaviour. Leading international authorities provide a truly comprehensive and research-based reference to understanding, treating, and preventing suicidal behaviour. They explore concepts and theories which best guide work within this field and detail key research which has supported conceptual developments, preventive interventions and clinical treatment. "No self-respecting worker in deliberate self-harm and suicide prevention, either clinical or research, can afford to be without access to this comprehensive handbook - possession and regular use, may well become a marker of serious involvement in the subject! ...This is the most comprehensive, up-to-date, informative and well-written source of information on sucide and suicidal behaviour...an invaluable work of reference which will be essential for clinicians and researchers for many years to come." —Andrew Sims, Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry, St James's University Hospital, Leeds, UK - British Journal of Psychiatry

Recombinant Antibodies written by Frank Breitling and has been published by Wiley-Spektrum this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-09-30 with Medical categories.

As new recombinant DNA technology continues to join with cellular and molecular immunology, the field of antibody engineering has become a flourishing discipline. Antibody genes are now being cloned, genetically manipulated, and expressed to produce antigen binding proteins. Recombinant Antibodies addresses this burgeoning field with its comprehensive survey of the developing possibilities for producing specific antibodies by combinatorial methods. Following a comprehensive introduction to the field, the book is divided into four parts: a detailed introduction to the underlying concepts of recombinant antibodies, a description of the various methods for the generation of recombinant antibodies, their production and purification, and various designs and applications of genetically engineered proteins. The combination of these techniques substantially extends the functionality of natural antibodies. In addition, the book will focus on: Hybridoma immortalization. Generation and functional screening of highly complex antibody gene libraries. Human monoclonal antibodies to highly toxic and pathogenic antigens. Improving specificity or affinity of antibodies. New agents for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Genetic fusions for the production of bi- and multifunctional molecules. Production of large quantities of recombinant antibodies. New methods of purification. Emerging technologies. Recombinant Antibodies is the first general overview of the emerging field of antibody engineering and will serve as the definitive source for researchers and engineers in biology and medicine, biochemistry, immunology, and molecular biology, as well as anyone who is interested in biotechnology and antibody engineering.

I am here because two sets of strange and extraordinary events happened to me ... One in England, first, and then one in Africa.’ On Brazzaville Beach, on the edge of Africa, Hope Clearwater examines the complex circumstances that brought her there. Sifting the details for evidence of her own innocence or guilt, she tells her engrossing story with a blunt and beguiling honesty that not only intrigues and disturbs but is also completely enthralling.
