Sit Down And Shut Up written by Brad Warner and has been published by New World Library this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-10-05 with Religion categories.

In 2003, Brad Warner blew the top off the Buddhist book world with his irreverent autobiography/manifesto, Hardcore Zen: Punk Rock, Monster Movies, and the Truth about Reality. Now in his second book, Sit Down and Shut Up, Brad tackles one of the great works of Zen literature, the Shobogenzo, by thirteenth-century Zen master Dogen. Illuminating Dogen’s enigmatic teachings in plain language, Brad intertwines musings on sex, meditation, death, God, sin, and happiness with an exploration of the punk rock ethos. In chapters such as “Evil Is Stupid,” “Kill Your Anger,” and “Enlightenment Is for Sissies,” Brad melds the antiauthoritarianism of punk with that of Zen, mixing in a travelogue of his triumphant return to Ohio to play in a reunion concert of Akron punk bands. For those drawn to Buddhist teachings but scared off by their stiff austerity, Brad writes with a sharp smack of truth, in teachings and stories that cut to the heart of reality.

The Eucharist originated at the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. It is based on the prayer of thanksgiving that Jesus pronounced over the bread and wine at that meal. “Eucharist” means “thanksgiving”, “praise”, and “blessing”. The Church celebrates the Eucharist as a memorial of the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is more than a remembrance of the Last Supper of Jesus with his disciples. In the Eucharist the sacrifice of our redemption becomes present sacramentally. In the past, dogmatic theology has treated the meaning of the Eucharist while disregarding the form of its liturgical celebration, whereas liturgical studies have been content with only the latter. Yet the two cannot be separated, any more than liturgy and dogma or pastoral practice and doctrine can be understood without the other. The Church’s liturgy is not something external to Christian revelation, but rather, as Joseph Ratzinger said, “revelation accepted in faith and prayer”. In this work Helmut Hoping combines the approaches of dogmatic theology and liturgy while examining the Eucharist from a historical and systematic perspective. This new English translation of the second German edition of this major work, revised and expanded, includes a comparative analysis of the Second Eucharistic Prayer and a chapter on the theology of the words of institution.

In a small mirror, even the big forehead of an elephant can be clearly seen. Even so in this series, you will get all about the glory and greatness of Shankara.Shankara has a large heart of Maha-Vishnu. Lord Mahavishnu lives in the midst of the milk ocean. Even then He yearns for the milk of Vrindavana. The great world teacher had a sweet and constant flow of words. It resembles the spring in the nectar of the ocean. His flow of words had put to shame even the imposing sound of the flow of Ganga. Here you will read the excellence of the great world teacher. His glory and greatness spread everywhere like the fragrance of jasmine flower. His glory goes beyond the barriers of space and time.I am just a creature of little talents. Even then I am attempting this greatest task. Because I have full faith in his merciful look of blessings. The narration of his glory will cleanse any sins. My speech and heart have become extremely impure by the praise of mean sinful wealthy persons. The wealth has raised them to the ranks of pretenders to greatness.I indulge in their insincere price. Hence my heart, speech, and pen have become very impure. Now I shall apply to them sweet and cooling sandal paste fallen from the body of his holy fame and greatness. With these prose flowers, I shall worship the great Shankara. He has asked none but the grace of Shiva in the form of a man.Let us listen to the excellence of the great old teacher Shankara Bhagavatpada. This listening will cleanse your hearts.

A Short History Of Humanity written by Johannes Krause and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-08 with History categories.

Humanity has often found itself on the precipice. We've survived and thrived because we've never stopped moving... 'Stops you dead in your tracks ... An absolute revelation' Sue Black, bestselling author of All That Remains In this eye-opening book, Johannes Krause, Chair of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Humanity, offers a new way of understanding our past, present and future. Marshalling unique insights from archaeogenetics, an emerging new discipline that allows us to read our ancestors' DNA like journals chronicling personal stories of migration, Krause charts two millennia of adaption, movement and survival, culminating in the triumph of Homo Sapiens as we swept through Europe and beyond in successive waves of migration - developing everything from language, the patriarchy, disease, art and a love of pets as we did so. We also meet our ancestors, from those many of us have heard of - such as Homo Erectus and the Neanderthals - to the wildly unfamiliar but no less real: the recently discovered Denisovans, who ranged across Asia and, like humans, interbred with Neanderthals; the Aurignacians, skilled artists who, 40,000 years ago, brought about an extraordinary transformation in what our species could invent and create; the Varna, who buried their loved ones with gold long before the Pharaohs of Egypt did; and the Gravettians, big game hunters who were Europe's most successful early settlers until they perished in the face of the toughest opponent humanity had ever faced: the ice age. As well as being a radical new telling of our shared story, this book is a reminder that the global problems that keep us awake at night - climate catastrophe; the sudden emergence of deadly epidemics; refugee crises; ethnic conflict; over-population - are all things we've faced, and overcome, before.
