Wichterich 2004: I).

“Just as rhetoric is founded in culture, culture is founded in rhetoric” - the first half of this central statement from the International Rhetoric Culture Project is abundantly evidenced. It is the latter half that this volume explores: how does culture emerge out of rhetorical action, out of seemingly dispersed individual actions and interactions? The contributors do not rely on rhetorical “text” alone but engage the situational, bodily, and often antagonistic character of cultural and communicative practices. The social situation itself is argued to be the fundamental site of cultural creation, as will-driven social processes are shaped by cognitive dispositions and shape them in turn. Drawing on expertise in a variety of disciplines and regions, the contributors critically engage dialogical approaches in their emphasis on how a view from rhetoric changes our perception of people's intersubjective and conjoint creation of culture.

Master's Thesis from the year 2011 in the subject Business economics - Business Ethics, Corporate Ethics, grade: 78 % (1,0), University of Exeter (Business School), course: Strategy/Operations, language: English, abstract: 1. Introduction “Ethics are in vogue” is an assertion drawn after the International Herald Tribune (IHT) conference on luxury (Smale, 2007). The reason for this statement is the presumption of an emergent type of luxury consumer whose purchase decision is up to the ethical behaviour of business. Is this concept mere wishful thinking or does it reflect empirical reality, since the latter would void the expression “the devil wears Prada”. It is obvious, that the conventional way of economic development not any longer satisfies the needs of the world in which we live – “the environment is, without doubt, one area which is being subjected to greater public scrutiny” (Dembkowski and Hanmer-Llyod, 1994). Society increasingly requires a healthy living, innovative, efficient and safe technologies as well as a “stable and safe” natural and social environment (Jochem 2011). The media especially reports on ethical and sustainable business conduct and its affects on “human health, the ecosystem and future generations” (Bonacchi and Rinaldi, 2006). Simultaneously to the increasing requirements of ethical and sustainable business conduct, the luxury fur demand is substantially growing. From US $ 456.99 million in 2001, the world fur outlook estimates an increase in sales up to US $ 854.13 million in 2011 (Parker, 2005) - fur auction houses sell “record-breaking” numbers. Fur re-emerges as a fashionable design material; especially younger designers are “fascinated with fur and use it in innovative ways” (Foreman, 2010). The material has also trickled down to the streets - the younger generation demands it more than ever; even child fashion designers use it for their collections (Vulsier, 2010). The inherent question from these insights is whether both developments, namely an increasing requirement of sustainable and ethical business conduct as well as a growing fur fashion demand, are in line or in contrast to each other. Thus, is a fur producer ethical and sustainable? The author aims to gain knowledge whether a fur business responds to these external societal requirements regarding ethics and sustainability and whether ethical and sustainable or unethical and insustainable business conduct implicates advantages or disadvantages. This study will examine the topics ethics and sustainability within a fur business. The research will examine the supply chain sustainability performance and ethicality of a fur producer and trader from a business and consumer perspective.

Strategy And Sustainability written by Mike Rosenberg and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-30 with Business & Economics categories.

Business and environmental sustainability are not natural bedfellows. Business is about making money; sustainability is about protecting the planet. Business is measured in months and quarters; sustainability often requires significant short term costs to secure a sometimes uncertain long-term benefit. To some activists, all executives are exploitative, selfish “1 percenters”. To some executives, all activists are irresponsible, unyielding extremists. And yet engaging with the issue isn’t optional – all businesses must have a strategy to deal with sustainability and, like any strategy, this involves making choices. Strategy and Sustainability encourages its readers to filter out the noise and make those choices in a hard-nosed and clear-eyed way. Rosenberg’s nuanced and fact-based point of view recognizes the complexity of the issues at hand and the strategic choices businesses must make. He blends the work of some of the leading academic thinkers in the field with practical examples from a variety of business sectors and geographies and offers a framework with which Senior Management might engage with the topic, not (just) to save the planet but to fulfil their short, medium, and long-term responsibilities to shareholders and other stakeholders.“/p>

Seminar paper from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 2,3, EBC University Düsseldorf, course: Strategic Management, language: English, abstract: To what extent can corporate success in the fast-moving fashion industry be sustainably optimised and secured in the long term? In order to get to the bottom of this question, data and facts from leading companies as well as studies of various modern media platforms were listed and analysed, with a focus on the probably largest platform, the Internet. In order to illustrate these aspects concretely, this article refers to the example of the Spanish fashion brand Zara. The result makes it clear that there are companies or designers who follow or strictly counteract the concept of sustainability with the help of various sustainability strategies. The aim is to demonstrate a conscious and sustainable fashion production process and to appeal to the moral responsibility of fashion companies in view of the worldly scarcity of resources. The consumption of limitless fashion has become an integral part of global society. Prescribed garments in the early modern period of the Middle Ages are today only history. Accordingly, people of all kinds identify globally with fashionable clothing. What can be worn in Japan today can be worn in England or Italy at the same time. But this was not always the case. Trade and communication have al-ways been subject to political aspects. Due to the current networking of all countries, the exchange of information or goods on an international level is part of everyday life. Globalisation is the increasing interstate dependence in all areas of human life. This applies not only to the economy, but also to culture and politics. One particular industry is the fashion industry, which is in constant conflict with itself. Globalisation and sustainability are two terms that are always in focus in the fashion world. When we talk about sustainab
