Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Theologie - Didaktik, Religionspädagogik, Universität Rostock (Theologische Fakultät), Veranstaltung: Bilderbücher und Kinderbibeln, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Angeregt durch das Seminar „Bilderbücher und Kinderbibeln“ wird sich diese Hausarbeit mit Kinderbüchern beschäftigen. Untersucht werden soll allgemein der Begriff „Kinderbuch“ mit seinen unterschiedlichen Gattungen, die didaktische Funktion von Kinderbüchern im Unterricht und Alltag und die Kriterien nach denen Bücher ausgewählt werden sollten. Der Hauptteil der Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit Kinderbüchern zum Thema „Tod“. Kinder begegnen Sterben und Tod auf vielerlei Weise. Beobachtungen im Fernsehen, Gespräche und Unterhaltungen der Erwachsenen über den Tod, der Verlust eines Haustieres, des Opas, der Oma, eines Geschwister- oder Elternteils konfrontieren sie frühzeitig mit dem Thema. Diese schmerzlichen Erfahrungen sind für Kinder sehr schwer zu verarbeiten und Eltern oder Verwandte sind oft überfordert auf ihre Kinder einzugehen, weil sie selbst trauern oder die Trauer der Kinder herabsetzen. Um als Lehrer oder Erzieher die Traurigkeit der Kinder nachvollziehen zu können und Kindern den Tod als einen Teil ihres Lebens begreiflich machen zu können, werden in der Ausarbeitung entwicklungspsychologische Stufen der kindlichen Todesvorstellungen und die Art und Weise wie Kinder trauern betrachtet. „Bücher sind unerschöpfliche Informationsquellen. In den Bildern und Texten spiegelt sich die Welt, die für das Kind noch weithin unbekannt ist. Die Kinder erfahren über die Kinderbücher Neues; sie lernen aber auch das Bekannte mit den Augen des Künstlers, des Malers, Schriftstellers oder Dichters sehen. Sie entdecken auf diese Weise neue Merkmale und Zusammenhänge an Dingen und Erscheinungen und gelangen so zu einer weiteren und innigeren Beziehung zur Wirklichkeit.“ Es gibt viele Kinderbücher die das Thema „Tod“ behandeln. Da Bücher, wie in dem Zitat deutlich wird, helfen können neue Dinge zu entdecken, sind auch Bilderbücher geeignet, sich dem Thema zu nähern und Kinder auf das Sterben vorzubereiten oder in einer Verlustsituation zu trösten. Verschiedene Bücher die dieses Thema ansprechen werden hinsichtlich der Todesvorstellungen und der Trauerreaktionen analysiert und bewertet. Außerdem wird ansatzweise überlegt, wie die Bücher für den Unterricht in der Grundschule einsetzbar sind.
