English summary: Whoever wants to understand the claims and nuances of the "Our Father" should consider the ancient context in which the prayer was produced, passed on through the early generations of Christians, and interpreted by them. Focusing on the oldest sources, which include three early Christian documents that contain different versions of the prayer, the studies presented in this volume argue that the original context and transmission of the prayer, and its importance to the emerging Christian church, are also important in providing new perspectives in the history of early Christianity. This anthology brings together six studies that orient the prayer within different contexts. Jorg Frey and Reinhard Feldmeier study the "Our Father" from the perspective of ancient Jewish and pagan literature respectively. Florian Wilk presents the "Our Father" as an element in the early understanding of Jesus. Peter von der Osten Sacken takes the prayer as a point-of-access for the Gospel of Matthew while Michael Wolter interprets it in the context of the Gospel of Luke and Jurgen Wehnert in the context of the "Didache." Taken together, these articles offer a multifaceted, yet still coherent, image of the "Our Father" in its ancient contexts. This anthology is based on a symposium celebrating the 90th birthday of Eduard Lohse and commemorates his role as a theological teacher and scholar. The volume concludes with an extensive bibliography that rounds out the studies. This study explores the reception history of the Lord's Prayer in the Ghanaian context. After presenting the current state of research in the Lord's Prayer from an exegetical perspective, this book discusses a wide field of hermeneutical approaches, such as inculturation biblical hermeneutics, mother-tongue biblical hermeneutics, African feminist biblical hermeneutics, liberation biblical hermeneutics and post-colonial biblical hermeneutics. Taking the discussions of these approaches together, it was realised that the general hermeneutical setting in Ghana (and Africa as whole) is reader-centred, i.e. the readers play an active role in the hermeneutical process and the results of the hermeneutical process are aimed at the readers’ contexts and the transformation of those contexts.

The Codex Vercellensis is one of the great treasures of the Vercelli library, containing the four Gospels. Written during the fourth century, it is the oldest remaining Latin manuscript of the Greek New Testament and one of the most important witnesses to the early understanding of the Gospels. In this edition, Weissenrieder and Visinoni provide the Latin text of the work parallel to spectral images, indicating abbreviations, lineation, foliation and staurograms as well as a (reconstructed) critical edition with references to the most important texts of the Old Latin tradition as well as Greek and Syriac manuscripts and a commentary to this unique Latin translation. The analyses involved will be: (1) digital methods, (2) philological and theological, (3) translation theories in antiquity as well as (4) genealogical. The authors call into question assumptions about the text preserved in the manuscript, arguing that it represents an early stage of the Latin Gospels. The manuscript will be examined in light of its wide-ranging cultural and historical context. As such, the project aligns itself methodologically with the field of manuscript studies and attempts to integrate the specialized expertise of various disciplines in the study of a single object.
